Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?
I'm going down to shoot my old lady, you know I caught her messin' round with another man
I'm going down to shoot my old lady, you know I caught her messin' round with another man
Hey Joe, I heard you shot your lady down
Hey Joe, I heard you shot your woman down
Yes I did, I shot her, you know I caught my lady messin' around
Yes I did, I shot her, cause I caught my lady messin' around
Hey Joe, where you gonna run to now?
Hey Joe, where you gonna run to now?
I'm going way down south, way down to Mexico
I'm going way down south, way down to Mexico
Ain't no hang man gonna put no rope round me you better believe
Ain't no hang man gonna put no rope,no rope, no rope
Ain't no hang man gonna put no rope round this neck
The song "Hey Joe" by Cassie Steele is a rendition of the classic rock song originally written by Billy Roberts. The lyrics describe a story of an man named Joe who is caught in a difficult and tumultuous situation. He is carrying a gun and when asked where he is going, he replies that he is going to shoot his old lady because he caught her with another man. When asked about the deed later, he admits to shooting her because of her infidelity. He then plans to flee to Mexico to avoid being punished by the law. The song has a dark undertone with violent imagery and a sense of despair.
The lyrics suggest themes of jealousy, betrayal, and revenge. The violence and aggression in the lyrics are a reflection of the raw emotions of the singer. The song also explores the idea of escaping from the consequences of one’s actions. The image of Joe running away to Mexico represents his effort to evade accountability for his crime. The line "Ain't no hang man gonna put no rope round this neck" is a declaration of self-preservation, as Joe refuses to face the repercussions of his actions.

I thought this was a great cover. I'm not much of a fan of covers but i thought this one was really good and honestly people would you have rather heard miley cyrus cover this? she already butchered nirvana. lets not have her butcher another classic.

I dont like that cover for one reason, there are different emotions when you hear this, and hendrix version. With Hendrix there was sadness and something that I cant really name because I am not native english speaker. Here it is nothing, it just feels way different.
