Well I guess I love Hollywood
Where the streets are made of dreams
I came back with no more money
Just a craving for the scene
Momma, momma says, "Oh Child
You're playing with a fool's gold
Listen to your momma baby
Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood
And it gets so hot you can see 'em dropping
Hollywood, it ain't never stop
I love some of that Hollywood
Where the sky ain't never rain
Nothing's helping me now dear mommy
I need me some of that fame
Momma, momma says, "Oh child
You better get out and quick, yeah."
Not listening to you momma
I'll do what I see fit
Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood
And it gets so hot you can see 'em dropping
Hollywood, it ain't never stop
Hear my story of Hollywood
It's the saddest tale I know
'Bout a girl who still walks the streets
Screaming, "God help me find my soul!"
Father, father says, "Oh, child
Look what you have done
Told you once and I told you twice
Now you're paying with your own blood"
Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood
And it gets so hot you can see 'em dropping
Hollywood, it ain't never stop
Hollywood, Hollywood, Hollywood
The song "Hollywood" by Cassie Steele is about the illusionary nature of the entertainment industry, specifically in Hollywood, and the price one pays in chasing fame. The opening lines of the song set the stage for the love-hate relationship the singer has with the city of Hollywood. The streets are made of dreams, but the singer returns from the city with nothing but a craving for the scene. The admonition of the singer's mother warns the singer of the temptations of the city and the empty promises of fame, but the singer ignores the advice and continues to chase her dreams, believing that fame will fill the void in her life. The chorus of the song highlights the brutal reality of Hollywood, where people drop like flies and the industry never stops.
The second verse continues the theme of chasing fame in Hollywood despite the warning from the singer's mother. The singer describes how the city's allure is all-consuming, leaving nothing else left to desire. The singer is now trapping in the cycle of fame, desperately trying to cling onto it at all costs. The third verse of the song takes a darker turn as the singer tells the story about the saddest tale she knows about a girl who is lost and screaming for help. The message of the song is clear - the pursuit of fame in Hollywood is not worth it as it comes at a great personal cost, often destroying the people who fall for its trappings.
