Walk Away
Cast Lyrics

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

I guess I should've known better
To believe I'm a lucky chain, oh
I lent my heart out forever
And finally learned each other's names

I tell myself,this time it's different
No goodbyes, 'cause eyes can't bear to say it
I'll never survive on one that's coming
If I stay, ooh

Just walk away
Ooh, and don't look back
'Cause if my heart breaks, it's gonna hurt so bad
You know I'm strong, but I can't take that
Before it's too late, oh, just walk away
(Walk, walk, walk away) Ooh, just walk away
(Walk, walk, walk) Away-aye-aye, yeah

I really wish I could blame you, but I know
That it's no one's fault, no, no, no, no
Cinderella with no shoe, and
The prince that doesn't know he's lost
He says that her face is so familiar, and
Goodbye with just the same old song
But this time I will not surrender
'Cause I'm gone, ooh, yeah

Just walk away
Ooh, and don't look back
'Cause if my heart breaks, it's gonna hurt so bad
You know I'm strong, but I can't take that
Before it's too late. oh, just walk away
(Walk, walk, walk away) Ooh, just walk away
(Walk, walk, walk) Away-aye-aye, yeah

Ooh, I've got to let it go
Start protecting my heart and soul
'Cause I don't think I'll survive a goodbye again.
Not again!

Just walk away!
Ooh, and don't look back.
'Cause if my heart breaks, it's gonna hurt so bad
You know I'm strong, but I can't take that
Before it's too late,before it's too late
Oh, just walk away
(Walk, walk, walk away) Walk away, walk away, yeah
(Walk, walk, walk away!) Walk away, walk away, all right
(Walk away, walk away, yeah, walk away!) Walk away, walk away

(Oh, walk, walk, walk away!) Walk away, walk away, ooh
Ooh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Cast's song Walk Away are about a person who is trying to come to terms with the fact that their current relationship is not working out, despite all of their efforts to make it work. The singer acknowledges the fact that they have invested a lot of time and emotional energy into the relationship, but ultimately realizes that it is time to let go and move on.

The repeated phrase "just walk away" serves as a reminder to the singer that sometimes the best thing to do in a difficult situation is to simply walk away, rather than trying to force things to work out. While the decision to leave may be painful in the short term, the singer knows that it is ultimately for the best.

The lyrics also touch upon the idea of learning from past mistakes and not repeating them in future relationships. The singer knows that they cannot go through the pain of a breakup again, and are determined to protect their heart and soul moving forward.

Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the ups and downs of relationships, and the difficult decisions that sometimes need to be made in order to move forward and grow.

Reminds me of all the horrible family and friends in my life I've had to, or have to walk away from. This song makes it easier to cope with the hurt

"if you've played all the games they play, you played them yesterday, just walk away away"

"If you've said all you got to say, now your words just slip away, just walk away"

"If you've proved, all there is to prove, aint nothing left for you, just walk away walk away"

Got to walk away TODAY!

I was 19 with the world at my feet, gutted because of Euro 96 thinking I will go to France in 98. I went to France, didn't do too much else after that. So here I sit at 43 with 4 kids on covid19 lockdown, thinking why did I ever believe we were good enough. The 90s were the best decade by far, the pinnacle of human society. These days everyone just taps phone screens.

Spot on. Exactly how I feel.

@matdur2000

I'm 44 and I'm slightly grateful that I haven't been labelled a useless, irrelevant boomer yet. I say slightly because it's coming

We spend our childhoods wanting to grow up and the rest of our adult lives longing to go back.

Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened.
