What Does He Want?
Cast - Phineas and Ferb Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What kind of present does he dream about?
A leather wallet or a singing trout?
What I should get him is a mystery
And if it's lame, will he still want me?

What does he want?
A DVD or some video games
What does he want?
Or maybe one of those new digital frames

What does he want?
Something to fit his personality
What does he want?
The perfect present is eluding me

My friends all tell me that I shouldn't obsess
But how can I avoid the stress?
I need to know but right now
All I can do is guess

What does he want?
A fancy cell phone or a tube of grout
What does he want?
I don't know but I'll figure it out

What does he want?
Rear-view mirror glasses as seen on TV
What does he want?
I only wish I knew what he got me

'Cause I hear it's perfect
What does he want?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "What Does He Want?" by the cast of Phineas and Ferb explore the dilemma of finding the perfect gift for someone. The singer is seeking to understand the desires and preferences of her partner, unsure of what would truly make him happy. She presents various options ranging from practical items like a leather wallet or a tube of grout to more playful ones like a singing trout or rear-view mirror glasses.

The singer's uncertainty about what present to choose reflects her fear of disappointing her partner. She wonders if her gift may be perceived as "lame" and questions whether he will still want her if it doesn't meet his expectations. The pressure to find the perfect gift causes her to obsess and feel stressed, seeking advice from friends who advise her to not worry too much.

Ultimately, the song highlights the challenges of trying to understand someone else's desires and how it can fuel anxiety. It also hints at the importance of communication and the value of knowing each other's preferences, as she mentions that her partner seems to have found the perfect gift for her.

How on earth does Ashley Tisdale keep her voice in such great shape to voice Candace every single episode…

@V.A247

I think for 2 reasons,1: no.drugs and 2:no alcohol before doing voice overs(if she drinks)

@incrediblekeenan1751

Well since Candace is literally screaming in every episode 😂 they save some of Ashley’s screams so she doesn’t ruin her voice. And she took proper care of her voice too.

For a weekly cartoon, they managed to create so many absolute bangers. Incredibly talented songwriters

Phineas and Ferb is literally part of my childhood!!! And I actually thought Baljeet was voiced by a kid when I was young and I was shocked when I found out it was by a grown man😂😂😂
