The waves they keep on telling me
The challenges keep menacing me with their voice

The challenges repeatedly demotivate by saying I won't overcome

"You'll never win!"
Reinforcing the negativity, the challenges assert with conviction

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
Opposing the negative voice, a positive voice emerges

The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The positive voice assures me of safety and courage

The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
The voice reminds me that my actions will bring glory to Jesus

Out of all the voices calling out to me
Among many contradictory opinions and thoughts jostling for attention

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
I will purposefully heed and have faith in the positive voice

The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
The courage and mettle required to confront a formidable obstacle

With just a sling and a stone
Using minimal resources and unconventional means to overcome obstacles

Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Amid the clamor and commotion of many enemies

Shaking in their armor
Portraying the fear and intimidation of the opposition

Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
The enemies display a sentiment of wanting the courage to face the obstacle

But the giant's calling out my name
The hurdle intimidates by calling out and challenging me

And he laughs at me
The obstacle derides and belittles me

Reminding me of all the times
Bringing to mind my previous failures and defeats

I've tried before and failed
The instances in the past when I had made an effort to overcome, but it didn't work

The giant keeps on telling me
The obstacle keeps discouraging with its voice

The obstacle is persistent in its attempt to instill hopelessness

"You'll never win!"
Reasserting and reinforcing the negative sentiment

But the stone was just the right size
Revealing that the solution was a perfect fit

To put the giant on the ground
The solution enabled defeating the obstacle

And the waves they don't seem so high
The challenges don't seem so daunting from the vantage point of success

From on top of them lookin' down
Viewing the challenges from a higher, superior perspective

I will soar with the wings of eagles
I will achieve great heights of success, much like an eagle soaring high

When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Emphasizing the importance of listening to and heeding Jesus' voice

Jesus giving me encouragement, strength, and soothing voice

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Reiterating the choice to trust the positive voice and act accordingly
