Anymore
Cat Clyde Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I lay here weeping
while you're sleeping like a baby
You know I'm leaving
But you're just the same

I watch you dreaming
Hoping its me your seeing
But I know you don't need me
Anymore

I watched the sunset
Without you beside me
I felt alone so alone
Sitting there

And when I jumped into the ocean
I could of sunk and drowned
Cause I know you don't need me
Anymore

No you don't need me
Like I need you
And you don't love me
As I love you

You see I've been trying to find some kind of ray of light
But how can I
When you don't need me
Anymore

I feel the words that
Have been unspoken
I see your eyes drift
When things get still

But you can't tell me
And there is nothing I can do
Cause I know you don't need me
Anymore

No you don't need me
Like I need you
And you don't love me
As I love you

You see I've been trying to find some kind of ray of light
But how can I
When you don't need me
Anymore

You see I've been trying to find some kind of ray of light
But how can I

When you don't need me
Anymore

Overall Meaning

In "Anymore," Cat Clyde sings about the pain of being in a one-sided relationship where one partner no longer needs or loves the other. The song is a heart-wrenching expression of hurt and the feeling of being invisible, and not being able to find a way back to love. The lyrics show the singer struggling to come to terms with the end of their relationship and the fact that their partner has moved on, while they are still holding on.

The first verse starts with the singer crying while their partner is sleeping peacefully. The singer knows that their relationship is coming to an end, but their partner is blissfully unaware. The second verse shows the singer watching the sunset alone, feeling lonely and isolated without their partner by their side. The bridge also includes a moment where the singer almost drowns, accentuating the idea that the singer is isolated and alone in these emotions. The chorus drives home the central point of the song: the singer loves their partner more than their partner loves them, and now they feel lost and alone. The final verse expounds upon this heartbreak, where the singer can see that their partner no longer needs them, but they can't seem to accept it fully.

Overall, this song is a poignant expression of unrequited love and the anguish that comes with it. The singer's pain is palpable through Cat Clyde's haunting and emotionally charged vocal delivery, and the melancholic music mirrors the song's mood perfectly.

She was beautiful, fame sometimes will have people destroy their natural beauty. But I don't think it can ruin her gifted voice.

This is supposed to be a romantic song but this song is about my mother, who abandoned me when I was 10 and just died last year. Cat Clyde you really embody the meaning of sadness in this one.
