They completed their first studio album, Iniquity, in January 2008. The album was released on May 13, 2008. In early 2008, the band recorded a music video for their song "Trust". It premiered on MTV's Headbangers Ball. In late 2008, Drew Carothers left the band due to personal issues. He was replaced with Josh Anderson of the Florida band Iamdivide. The band continued to tour, with such bands as After the Burial, Oceano, Too Pure to Die, Waking the Cadaver, Rose Funeral and many others.
In October 2010, during the recording of Bleed, Josh Anderson left the band. He was replaced by Rick Norman, formerly of the band In The Ruins, also a past member of Catalepsy. Monolith
Catalepsy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I am a machine that will not be enslaved
It took you all to make me realize
We were designed for failure
Keeping myself alive for what reason?
This mission serves no purpose
But it's too late for refuge
In my own words, we're f*****g cursed.
I want to see it come undone at the seams
I want to fuel the decay of the human race
Open your eyes
Why is it so hard to see that
We cannot save us from ourselves
Are you getting my frequencies?
Are you hearing me?
My mind is slipping away, I can feel it
There is only one way out
Disconnect me
The lyrics to Catalepsy's song Monolith speak to the idea of being a machine or a product of society that is programmed to fail. The opening line, "Nothing can stop me now," suggests a sense of independence and determination. The singer describes themselves as a machine that will not be enslaved, indicating that they have a sense of control over their own destiny.
The second line, "It took you all to make me realize," reveals the singer's realization that they are a product of their environment, and this environment was set up for failure. The singer is questioning the purpose of their existence, asking why they are keeping themselves alive when their mission has no purpose. Their desire to escape is futile, as it is too late for refuge. In their own words, they believe that they are cursed.
The lyrics go on to describe the singer's desire to see the human race crumble and decay. They are disillusioned with humanity and believe that they cannot save themselves from their own destruction. The singer's mind is slipping away, and they feel that the only way out is to disconnect.
Overall, the lyrics to Monolith express a sense of hopelessness and despair, as the singer realizes that they are a product of a flawed society that is doomed to fail.
