Prologue
Catch 22 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A hero was born of a movement for the not so distant past,
He and others like him felt the world was changing fast,
So they embarked on a journey with their very best intentions,
And thought that what began with them would never find an end.

Ready set go it's easy you know,
It's easy to get wrapped up in the madness,
Ready or not it's all that they go,
and so it goes

Suspend your disbelief in revolution,
Their solutions were a way for them to change the world they lived in
The rich stay rich, the poor got even poorer
And the world engulfed in war only added to the horror

Unlike the more moderated movements that proceeded theirs,
They were absolutely unconcerned with splitting heads,
They fought for the rights and belief that they might even change the human race,
But global revolution never seemed to show its face

Ready set go it's easy you know,
It's easy to get wrapped up in the madness,
Ready or not it's all that they go,
and so it goes

Suspend your disbelief in revolution,
Their solutions were a way for them to change the world they lived in

The rich stay rich, the poor got even poorer
And the world engulfed in war only added to the horror

Overall Meaning

The song "Prologue" by Catch 22 talks about a group of people who believed that the world was changing too fast, and they wanted to make a difference. These people went on a journey with the best of intentions, believing that what they were doing would never end. This "hero," as he is referred to in the lyrics, is a representative of a movement that emerged in the not-so-distant past. This movement is characterized by people who wanted to make a change and believed that they could do so. They were willing to fight for what they believed in and were willing to take the necessary risks to achieve their goals.

The lyrics describe the hero and his comrades as being fearless in their pursuit of change. Unlike other movements that preceded theirs, they weren't afraid of violence and didn't shy away from splitting heads. They believed that revolution was the only solution to the problems of the world. Unfortunately, global revolution never seemed to show its face. The rich continued to get richer, and the poor continued to get poorer. The world was engulfed in war, and it only added to the horror.

Catch 22's "Prologue" is a song that reflects the contemporary situation we see around us. The world is changing at an unprecedented rate, and there are people who want to make a change. Unfortunately, revolutions are not easy to achieve, and they often lead to violence and chaos. The lyrics encourage us to suspend our disbelief in revolution and to believe that we can make a positive change in the world we live in.

Don't get me wrong, I love Streetlight Manifesto a lot and they're among my top picks when it comes to ska, but whenever people hate on Catch 22 after Tomas left, I just feel like they're denying themselves some great music.

This song is a fantastic example. It's awesome.

Botar Akutabi

So true. I think both Tomas and Catch 22 went on to do bigger and better things after they split.

Karbonated Febreze
