Come Over
Cathy Davey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You go slow you take your time
But anymore it won't be so free
Anymore it won't be so easy
Big bass a temper a bee
Why shake, shake at your feet
Let it kick what they can't defeat
I'm over here, I'm over here
I'm over here, I'm over here
Come over here, come over here
Come over here, come over here
Come over
Too slow, how to get you to move
You got a hoop you won't need to jump though
Stuff you want me to wear and I'll wear it just for you
Any day soon, until the day
Give me a moment, it won't take you long
To make it clear enough
I'm over here, I'm over here
I'm over here, I'm over here
Come over here, come over here
Come over here, come over here
Come over
Any day soon, until the day
Give me a moment, it won't take me so long
And any day soon, until the day
Give me a moment, it won't take me so long
Make you feel right, now there's no need
And everything's right, ra ta ta
The lyrics to Cathy Davey's song Come Over speak about wanting someone to come over and be close to her. The song starts with her urging her love interest to hurry up as they are right behind her, but they are taking their own sweet time. It won't be as easy or as free anymore. The lyrics indicate that he is slowing down, and she is afraid that he is losing interest in her. Cathy Davey sings about a Bee that is angry and temperamental; she asks her love interest to let it kick what they can't defeat so that they can hear her.
The next verse indicates that she is willing to do anything for her love interest, even if it means wearing what he wants her to wear. Cathy seems to be frustrated with the situation, and she is essentially pleading with her lover to move faster, perhaps physically or emotionally. The repetition of the phrase "I'm over here" is a simple reminder that she is ready and waiting for him to come to her.
Overall, the song is an appeal to a lover to come back, to make things better and harmonious. The song's melody and Davey's voice reflect the emotions of the lyrics, making it easy for the listener to feel the sense of longing and frustration.
