Close
Catie King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I swear I feel you in the wind
Sinking deep beneath my skin
Every inch your fingers ever knew
Becomes a new way to feel close to you
And when the day is finally through

I close my eyes
And I realize
That it all comes back
To you

There's something crazy about your touch
I can never have too much
Hiding somewhere deep inside
The place where you and I collide
And when all the noise subsides

I close my eyes
And I realize

That it all comes back
To you
To you
To you

When everything you've ever known is
Falling out the sky
Where do you hide?
I'd never known a love like this
Til I finally messed it up right

And I closed my eyes
And I realized

That it all comes back
To you

Overall Meaning

The song "Close" by Catie King starts with the line "I swear I feel you in the wind" which is a strong statement about the singer's connection with someone they had a deep relationship with in the past. They feel the other person's presence, almost as if they are haunting them, and it's causing them to sink deep beneath their skin. Every part of them that the other person had ever touched now feels like a new way to feel close to them. It's clear that the singer is longing for this person, and they have a deep desire to feel close to them again. The second verse goes on to say that there's something about the other person's touch that the singer can't get enough of, and it feels as though they're hiding out somewhere deep inside of them. This lyric speaks to the connection the two once had and how it's still influencing the singer's life.

The chorus then repeats the phrase "I close my eyes and I realize that it all comes back to you," emphasizing the idea that no matter what they do, the singer just can't escape their connection with this person. The bridge of the song asks the question "when everything you've ever known is falling out the sky, where do you hide?" a question that implies the singer lost something significant and is trying to find a place of refuge. The final lines of the song reveal that the singer had never known a love like this before and they feel they messed it up. They close their eyes and realize that everything "comes back to you," implying that they still deeply love and long for the person they are singing about.
