It starts off with this dark creepy tone, which I think represents the mysterious elusive nature of cats, and evolves into this more dignified and proud version of cats, which I would guess is representative of a more familiar/domesticated view of cats. At any rate it's still one of my favourite overtures of all time.

I just saw the show in Chicago this past weekend. When this overture played, it felt like I was taken to the 80s. The synths and instruments were fantastic. Plus, seeing the cat eyes light up on stage in the darkness was so cool.
