Celestial Shore will release their debut full-length record entitled 10x on Brad Oberhofer's Local Singles Records on April 23. Mixed by Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), 10x expands on the band's earlier outings with more fully-developed song structures, offering more room to employ its growing bag of tricks – the odd beat dropped here or there, muscly breakneck spazzouts, and ecstatic wind-up reveries that immediately distinguish their sound and feel.

Let's go to the beach, on tonight or today
Let's get in the water, let's go for a swim
But you dont't want me, girl you clearly want him
I got places to go, I got people to see
Buy you'd never know you think I'm always free
Cause your always it's free
Before you get bu-bu-bu-bu-burnt
bu-bu-bu-bu-burnt, bu-bu-bu-bu-burnt
she's queen of the scene like a 10th grade dream
But she's a waste of your time
She'll just f--k with your mind
She thinks I'm a bore I'm not cool like her friends
I can't say I mind I guess thats how it ends
The beach in no fun in New York when its fall.
And I wish I never had met you at all
Valerie is superduperficial I think I need a new shirt
Valerie gets wasted at a party let's leave now before she gets worse.
The lyrics to Celestial Shore's "Valerie" depict a desire for adventure and escapism, but also carry an undertone of unrequited love and frustration. The lines "Let's get in the wagon, let's drive far away/Let's go to the beach, on tonight or today" evoke a longing to leave behind the mundane and experience something new and exciting. The singer suggests going for a swim, but acknowledges that the person they are addressing doesn't want them - they want someone else. The chorus speaks of the character Valerie, who presents herself as a fire dancer and queen of the scene, but is deemed to be superficial and a waste of time by the singer. The bridge emphasizes the idea of the singer's uncoolness and boredom in comparison to Valerie's friends, and ultimately concludes with the regretful admission that meeting Valerie was ultimately a mistake.
Overall, the song seems to be exploring themes of discontentment, unrequited love, and societal expectations of coolness and superficiality. The singer is seeking an escape from their reality, but is thwarted by their own feelings and the perceived superiority of those around them.
