1) Cente… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least three artists by the name of Centerfold.
1) Centerfold was a Dutch female pop trio, most famous for their 1986 hits 'Dictator' and 'Radar Love' (cover of Dutch rock band Golden Earring). After the original group split, the founders of Centerfold reformed the group twice.
The original line-up consisted of Cecilia de la Rie, Rowan Moore, and Laura Fygi (who went off to have a rather successful solo career). They recorded one album, Man's Ruin, which failed to make an impact, despite charting with four singles in The Dutch Top 40. The second album was cancelled after the sudden death of then-member Sandra Noach, effectively ending the first incarnation of Centerfold.
Between 1998 and 2001 there was a second version of Centerfold, with a completely different line-up. The single Summerdays Of '51 was a minor chart hit, although they never achieved the brief success of the original line-up.
The third installment of Centerfold proved to be slightly more successful, reaching the top 10 of the Singles Top 100 with the song Take Me. This line-up featured Melissa Theba, Samantha Klumper, and Rachel Wijsman. In early 2011 Klumper left the band to join Djumbo, a female trio which specializes in children's songs.
2) Centerfold was a Minneapolis soul/funk duo along the lines of Prince or Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis who released one self-titled album in 1988. They consisted of Keni Towns and Phil Jones.
3) Centerfold was a Austrian pop and rock outfit from Burgenland.
4) Canadian heavy metal group with Ken Williams on vocals, bass and keyboards
5) Duo from UK. Members: Guy McAffer, Nils Hess
6) US band with future Funny Money members Rob Galpin and bassist Mark Schenker.

Dictator
Centerfold Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That I couldn't live without you beside me (Stay, stay)
But I knew what to expect from you
Remember no-one said that it would be easy
Hard times when I stepped out of line
You said your woman has to act like a lady (Don't you like my games?)
Your hard lines, but all depends in mine
Your frozen heart is gonna melt for me
I'm gonna turn this love into what it's supposed to be
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
Dictator
You're such a dictator
True love fits me just like a glove
But it's something that you just can't get used to (Tight fit)
Your love needs more than a shove
And you can bet that I am going to push you
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
Dictator
You're such a dictator
Dictator
You're such a dictator
Your frozen heart is gonna melt for me
I'm gonna turn this love into what it's supposed to be
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw, love that is sure
I won't ask for more from you, baby
A riddle that's raw

The lyrics of Dictator by Centerfold talks about a relationship that is challenging but still worth fighting for. The singer knew that the person they moved in with is someone they couldn't live without, but at the same time, they were aware that it wouldn't be an easy journey. The partner, who is described as a dictator, sets hard lines that the singer had to get used to. There were hard times when the singer stepped out of line, but the partner demanded that they act like a lady. Despite the challenges, the singer believes that their frozen heart will melt someday, and they will turn their love into what it's supposed to be.
Throughout the song, the singer reiterates how they won't ask for more from their partner, but they will keep pushing them towards a better relationship. The riddle that's raw and love that is sure signify a relationship that is both complicated and steady. The repeated line of "Dictator, you're such a dictator" shows how the partner's trait affects the relationship. Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of a relationship that is challenging yet worth fighting for.

I saw Centerfold mentioned on the discography of Ricky Peterson, a Prince associate producer/keyboard player etc. in the 1980/90s, vaguely remember they got some kind of Paisley Park connection, but nothing materialized? Anyone got details?
