Say Something
Ceschi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

"Say something meaningful please"
It's been 3 years of stagnation, court dates, and fees
Wondering if I will go free

Nothing will satisfy me
Even if I burn this whole planet down it seems
Won't learn a thing
I'll die from risking

I've got friends who would rather end society
Because there's no way of fixing these flaws
And that's starting to make far more sense to me now
Cause we're lazy and used to what's wrong
It's been embedded inside us since our first breaths
We're destroying the world where we live
But I'm sitting here watching a T.V. in bed
Wondering why I lack happiness

Oh disappointing mouth
Say something more than
Another word about
How's your life's difficult
Now!

La la la la la la Life is all monotony
Sprinkled with some moments of unforeseen extremes
In between more sleeping

How will the prison showers be?
Will I have to punch somebody just to get clean?
Will there be something for me to eat?

All of us are just frightened roosters in a ring
Ready to pounce and fight anything
Though none of us will ever know what freedom is
We have certainly felt lack of it

Proverbs and clichés remind me that
I should learn to appreciate what I can get
But they're forcing us to live within our own shit
And I wasn't born to be a pig

Oh disappointing mouth
Hold your tongue
So the cops don't come and beat the words from you
Sing in tune now!

La la la la la la

Overall Meaning

In Ceschi's song "Say Something," the lyrics present a bleak outlook on life and society. The singer has been stuck in a state of stagnation for three years, dealing with court dates and fees and wondering if they'll ever be freed. The frustration and hopelessness the singer feels are palpable, as they express feeling dissatisfied with everything and worrying that they won't learn anything before they die. The lyrics also mention the singer's friends who want to end society because it seems impossible to fix all its flaws. The singer realizes that humanity has become too comfortable with what is wrong, which has caused them to destroy the world. Despite this realization, they still can't seem to find happiness.

The lyrics also delve into the singer's personal insecurities and fears. They wonder about the conditions of prison showers and if they'll have to fight to stay alive. The metaphor of "frightened roosters in a ring" is used to describe all of us as we're ready to pounce and fight at anything, but we'll never truly know what freedom is. The singer acknowledges the clichés around appreciating what we have, but they feel like they're being forced to live in their own mess.

Overall, "Say Something" is a bleak but honest examination of the human condition and the difficulties we face in trying to find meaning and happiness in a flawed and unforgiving world.

It's been 3 years of stagnation, court dates, and fees Wondering if I will go free
The past few years have been a constant cycle of legal battles that leave me with no clear path forward or chance for freedom.

Nothing will satisfy me Even if I burn this whole planet down it seems Won't learn a thing I'll die from risking
I feel like nothing can bring me true satisfaction, and even if I take drastic risks to change the world, it won't change anything and may lead to my own demise.

I've got friends who would rather end society Because there's no way of fixing these flaws And that's starting to make far more sense to me now Cause we're lazy and used to what's wrong It's been embedded inside us since our first breaths We're destroying the world where we live But I'm sitting here watching a T.V. in bed Wondering why I lack happiness
My friends feel like society is beyond repair, and I can't help but feel they are right. We are too complacent with the problems of the world and have been conditioned to accept them from birth, even as we destroy the very planet we live on. Despite this, I still feel unfulfilled and unhappy, even as I waste my time watching TV.

Oh disappointing mouth Say something more than Another word about How's your life's difficult Now!
I wish for someone to speak with me about something deeper than the trivial issues in our lives, rather than resorting to surface-level questions about each other's hardships.

La la la la la la Life is all monotony Sprinkled with some moments of unforeseen extremes In between more sleeping
Life can feel mundane and boring at times, but there are also unexpected surprises that can add some excitement, though we often spend most of our time sleeping or in a monotonous routine.

How will the prison showers be? Will I have to punch somebody just to get clean? Will there be something for me to eat?
As I await a potential prison sentence, I worry about basic needs like hygiene and sustenance and fear that violence may be necessary to obtain them.

All of us are just frightened roosters in a ring Ready to pounce and fight anything Though none of us will ever know what freedom is We have certainly felt lack of it
We are all trapped in a cycle of fear, lashing out at anything that threatens us, yet we'll never truly know what freedom really means. Even so, we are aware of the lack of freedom we experience in our own lives.

Proverbs and clichés remind me that I should learn to appreciate what I can get But they're forcing us to live within our own shit And I wasn't born to be a pig
Society tells me to be grateful for what little I have, but it also forces us to live in terrible conditions and accept it like mindless animals. I refuse to accept that fate and won't be satisfied living a life like a pig in its sty.

Oh disappointing mouth Hold your tongue So the cops don't come and beat the words from you Sing in tune now!
I feel the weight of my words and don't wish to draw unwanted attention from the authorities. Better to stay silent and blend in with society's expectations than face their wrath.

La la la la la la
A repeated melody indicating the mundanity of life, how it can feel like a never-ending cycle.

He's unreal good. His split with Pat The Bunny is still probably the most perfect album I've ever heard.

@ZhunterPLUR

Really is. You like that check out bat country- exp April 9th. That album is amazing. Bandcamp it. You'll enjoy.

@comewatchfights9112

I got lost in this "City is killing me" for about 6 months. Couldn't believe Pat was done. Still hope we hear something from him eventually. A song, a book, philosophy, anything. But more important than that I hope Pat is happy. Like an old friend I hope to reconnect with someday.

@BobbyIronsights

@Tyler Hunter absolutely, and i raise you "I Love You Like An Alcoholic"

@ZhunterPLUR
