When I worked in a grocery store, this song would sometimes play when they had the 70's playlist on. A few times a manager would quickly switch to something else, but if she wasn't in the office, it would play all the way through and the customers would get these bewildered looks on their faces. That makes me laugh. I remember one time my daughter's friends used soap to write on her windows before a ball game. We were driving to town and it was super cold, so my daughter said, I guess I'll roll the windows up. She rolled them up and everyone was honking. The words on the window said, "Honk If You Like Sex"! Now, imagine if that was on the windows and you were playing this song down the street...

When I first heard this song at 12 years of age, I innocently thought it was just what the song implies, Jungle Fever. Many years later, it oozes sex. If this song was popular today, every 12 year old out there would catch on to the sex thing. Times sure have changed.

When I first heard this lovely song, I heard this playing in my parents room at five in the godamn morning….I woke up thinking, “great, my parents are at it again” (keep in mind, I never heard this song before)
But then i realized…it wasn’t my parents making all this ruckus because the song kept replaying; it was my parents alarm!🤦🏻‍♀️ so! I walked into their bedroom, woke em up, and they turned it off. I was 10 years old when this happened.

I was looking for a list with good covers, then I found an "I will survive" of Gloria Gaynor by a funk american band named Cake, by the way they have so many great songs and one of them is a Chakachas cover named thrills, also as a cuban I was impressed about that they have a song in spanish named "Yo soy Cubano" (I'm cuban) and boy, sounds pretty well.

I won a wet t-shirt contest in Canada whilst this song was playing. I was just 16 and home from Harvard for the summer. Albeit I was too young to enter the bar, my friends were much older and the bouncers permitted me to enter. It was a Saturday night in 1982 and we heard a very conceited girl brag out loud; “I’ve got this. No one will beat me.” I was very shy but my friends convinced me to go on stage. I had on denim cut-off shorts, knee high boots and a blouse. The contest rules were no bra and you had to wear the thin white t-shirt as you were sprayed down with a hose. I have never tasted alcohol in my life even once, and I’m 57. I’m 5 feet tall and wear an H cup just like my mum. I have long thick black hair that’s past my bum. My friends told me to flip my curly long hair around. The winner was determined by the amount of applause by the crowd. My boots were vinyl, not leather but they were very sexy so I kept them on. Every female in the contest had to stay on stage for the duration of this song. I’d heard this song before and I loved it! I still love it! ♥️ There were 13 girls competing and I won by a landslide. It ended up being SO much fun due to this song. I gave the $1,500 prize money to my friend who’s mum was dying of breast cancer. She was there that night with us and I knew she needed the money. I forced her to take the cash as her father had passed away a few years earlier and she was supporting her younger brother and sister. Canada has socialized medicine and also provided a free apartment to my friend’s family after her father passed. My dad’s friend owns several car lots and he did me a favor (considering her circumstances) and sold her a brand-new $8,000 vehicle for just $1,500. It felt SO good to help my dear friend and to put the bragging girl in her place. It was classic night that we’ll never forget. My father found out about it, but wasn’t angry and never told my mum as it was for a good cause. I’m the only girl with 3 brothers so my father was very overprotective. This is a GREAT song and very exotic. It was perfect for the wet t-shirt contest! Thank you for posting this song. ♥️

As a child I never knew what all the moaning and heavy breathing was about l just knew is that I love the conga and tumba, 🎷 saxophone, trumpet 🎺 and guitar 🎸 all the instruments period and Even when I got an Adult I still loved it and still listening at it in 2023 😍😍😍 and even though in the UK it fared less well despite some air play ⏯️ soon after the release it was later pulled from the air play by the BBC which took exception from the moaning and heavy breathing It peaked at #29 But in the United States the disco single sold over one million copies yes! A Lot of others loved it too I see and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A.in March of 1972

I can't remember where I read of this song... It may have been in the comment section of YouTube. This guy was recalling playing this in Catholic school. One of the nuns overheard, and pitched a huge fit. Called it something to the effect of 'FiLtHy' and the devil's music. Well it's definitely secular at least.
