Con Christian Gordillo (guitarra y voz) y Alejandro “Pelado” Fernández (bajo) como referentes, la banda cambió varias veces el resto de sus integrantes. En octubre de 2002 el “Pelado” dejó la banda para radicarse en España y de esta forma Christian Gordillo quedó como único e indiscutido líder.
CHALA RASTA editó siete cassettes : “BRAZO MORENO” (1994), “RAICES” (1996), “EL AGUILA” (1997), “VOLVER A NACER” (1998), “AFRICA” (1999), “ESPIRITU” (2001) y “CAZA DE BRUJAS” (2003).
En el año 2000 se presentó la oportunidad de grabar “GONDWANA”, primer CD de la banda, que fue grabado y mezclado en ABD Récords. Como músicos invitados participaron Miguel Angel Tallarita (actual trompetista de Los Pericos), Rubén Mederson (saxo) y Arturo Bisogni (percusión).
A comienzos de 2002 salió a la luz una nueva producción en CD: “7° HIJO”, realizada, esta vez, en forma independiente. Este trabajo fue grabado, masterizado y mezclado en los estudios “Del Abasto al Pasto" y "Panda Récords”, con la participación, como músicos invitados, de Pablo Memi (contrabajo –ex bajista de Los Ratones Paranoicos-), Jason (trompeta –de La Vela Puerca-), Alejandro Pozzo (trombón –de Rey Gurú-) y Claudio Illobre (teclados –de Los Cafres-).
En enero de 2004 se grabó el octavo demo de la banda, “CINTURON VACIO”, esta vez en CD. También se realizó la reedición de “CAZA DE BRUJAS” en el mismo formato.
El mes de octubre de 2003 marcó una serie de sucesos muy importantes para CHALA RASTA. En la madrugada del día 11 se realizó la primer presentación en vivo en “Rock & Pop”, la radio más escuchada en Argentina, en el programa “La de Dios”, donde se tocaron más de 20 temas. El día 21 la banda se presentó nuevamente en “Rock & Pop”, esta vez en “Cuál es?”, el programa de mayor audiencia en FM, conducido por Mario Pergolini, volviendo a tocar en vivo. Finalmente, el viernes 24 se llevó a cabo el primer show en Cemento como única banda, a donde concurrieron alrededor de 1300 personas.
CHALA RASTA está siempre dispuesto a participar en recitales a beneficio, de hecho lo realizó en diversas oportunidades. Esa predisposición se debe no sólo al espíritu solidario del grupo, sino también a que todos los integrantes de la banda saben que los seguidores responderán masivamente. Una muestra clara de esto es el recital realizado el 1º de mayo de 2004 en la Plaza Grigera de Lomas de Zamora, a beneficio de dos comedores municipales, al que concurrieron 3000 personas que aportaron innumerable cantidad de alimentos, ropa y útiles escolares, transformando esa tarde, además de una jornada inolvidable por la ayuda brindada, en el momento de mayor convocatoria de la agrupación.
La esencia del grupo es, principalmente, hacer frente a las injusticias, pelear por una vida digna y no dejar que las fuerzas decaigan. El alma de CHALA RASTA está en las letras de sus canciones, que dicen lo que todos saben pero pocos cuentan.
