The best thing that I ever did
Looking back on my life, the best decision I ever made was also my greatest mistake at the time.

At the time was my worst mistake
Although it felt like the absolute worst decision to make at the time, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me in the end.

Seventeen and just a kid
At the age of seventeen, I was still young and naïve, barely an adult and not ready for the responsibilities that came with being a parent.

I was seventeen when I threw my childhood away for a hazel eyed quarter back
I gave up my youth and my childhood dreams for a boy with beautiful hazel eyes who was great at playing football.

Senior year and eight months pregnant
I was in my final year of high school and already eight months pregnant, about to enter a new stage of life that I was not prepared for.

I've never felt so fat
Being pregnant made me feel self-conscious about my appearance and how I looked, which was a new feeling for me.

Wishin' I could go to prom
I dreamed of going to prom like any other girl my age, but my situation didn't allow for it.

But they don't make dresses for girls like that (girls like that)
Being pregnant and having a bigger body made it difficult to find a dress that would fit, especially since formal dresses were not typically made for pregnant girls.

I should've been cheerin' for the home team
If things had gone differently, I would have been able to participate in high school traditions like cheering for the school's sports teams.

Top of my lungs sayin' "Go big blue"
I would have been shouting in support of my school's team with all my heart and soul.

Should've been marchin' with band
I would have been playing an instrument and marching with the school band during halftime performances.

Instead of cryin' in a delivery room
Rather than attending school events, I was in a hospital delivery room, crying in pain and unable to do anything else.

Thoses things were all worth goin' through
Even though I missed out on some things due to my early pregnancy, it was all worth it in the end for the life I have now.

Lookin' back it was hard lovin' me
When I reflect on my past self, it was a difficult time for me and those around me who had to deal with my struggles.

But it's easy lovin' you
Despite my past hardships and mistakes, you make it easy for me to love and appreciate life now.

School all day and worked all night
I had to go to school during the day and work all night to provide for my child and myself.

Granny watched you play and sang lullabies
My grandmother would watch over my child while I worked, singing them soothing songs to help them fall asleep.

I got home just in time to watch my baby fall asleep
When my long day was over, I would come home and spend time with my baby, making sure they felt loved and cared for.

I'm the youngest mom at PTO
Being a young mother meant that I stood out among other parents at PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) meetings and events.

You always keep me on the go
Thanks to my child's activities and needs, I always have something to do and somewhere to be, which can be tiring but fulfilling.

Between basketball and ballet class
I find myself juggling various activities and interests of my child, including sports and ballet classes.

And I can't believe you're growin' up so fast
With each passing day, I am amazed by how quickly my child is growing up and changing, and how precious our time together is.

Yeah we're growin' up so fast
Our family is moving forward and growing together, cherishing each moment we have and watching with pride as my child grows up.

We're finally cheerin' for the home team
After all these years, I am finally able to participate in school traditions and cheer for the sports teams with pride and joy.

I shout as loudly as I can in support of my child's school, with a smile on my face and love in my heart.

It's funny how you're life can turn out
Life can be unpredictable, and it's funny how things can change in ways we never imagined or anticipated.

How time can make those mountains move
As time goes on, we become stronger and more resilient, able to move mountains and overcome obstacles that seemed impossible before.

Everything is worth goin' through
All the struggles and hardships of the past served a purpose and helped shape me into the person I am today, and everything was worth it for the success and happiness I now enjoy.

If someone truly loves and understands me, it isn't difficult to be with me despite my past mistakes and imperfections.
