Despierta
Chambao Lyrics

corre que corre y no espera.
Pasa deprisa, pasa que vuela
corre que corre
sin darnos cuenta, sin darnos cuenta.
Ay despierta, ay ay despierta
Abriendo bien los ojos
al amanecer
sintiendo el amor
con ganas de aprender.
Que nuestro pasado se fue ya
y el futuro está por llegar
todo está a punto de empezar.
Tanto tiempo, tanto tiempo
tanto tiempo
buscando dentro de mi ser
tanto tiempo…
The lyrics of the song Despierta by Chambao speaks about the importance of being present in the moment and seizing every opportunity life has to offer. It emphasizes on the urgent need to wake up and live life in the now as time passes quickly, and eventually, everything will come to an end. The use of "pasa la vida, pasa que vuela" (life passes by, and it flies) and "corre que corre y no espera" (it runs without waiting) emphasizes the hurry which life takes, and how one should not let it slip away.
The chorus "Ay despierta, ay ay despierta," urges the listener to wake up, be mindful and embrace life as it is. It further suggests the need to rise early with the sunrise and open up to all forms of love, as this is crucial in gaining valuable lessons and knowledge that would help in living life better. The lyrics, "Que nuestro pasado se fue ya, y el futuro está por llegar, todo está a punto de empezar," points to the fact that the past is gone, and the future has not arrived yet, and all we have is the present moment.
Overall, the song Despierta reminds us to value life, live purposefully, and seek out growth opportunities. The lyrics are a call to action to wake up and embrace every new day with positivity and mindfulness.
