They are known for their unique sound and goofy style. In 1995 they released their first CD titled "Peor es mascar lauchas, roughly translated to "anything is better than nothing at all," a pre-emptive excuse for those who did not like the album. They actively participate in community-related events, playing benefits for the Chilean National Commission of Scientific and Technological Investigation. They are also known for musical contributions to the popular Chilean children's puppet show 31 Minutos.
Chancho en Piedra has released 11 albums since their debut in 1995, gaining them widespread familiarity, not only in Latin America but internationally as well, allowing them to perform at events such as the Memphis' Beale Street Music Festival in May of 2009.

The song "Dejando Libre el Amor" by Chancho En Piedra is a poignant portrayal of heartbreak and bittersweet memories. Este video es, a mi juicio, el mejor de los chancho; no solo la canción y la actuación es buena, sino que a nivel de composición es espectacular: tiene planos geniales y el uso cromático para representar la emocionalidad de los personajes me encantó. Pasamos de colores más puros y amarillos cuando nos muestran su amor feliz, pero todo cambia a una predominancia del azul desde que le tipo le dice "te vay a ir" en el 2:02. Más tarde en el 3:03 lo vemos en el reloj, el vestido y las tiras y bolsillo de la polera del tipo y obviamente en el 3:14, donde el tipo está en su etapa de mayor depresión, vemos el azul envolviendo toda la escena. Ojalá siempre tuviésemos vídeos hechos con tanto cuidado. Saludos y felicitaciones a los directores y director de fotografía, se pasaron!
