They are known for their unique sound and goofy style. In 1995 they released their first CD titled "Peor es mascar lauchas, roughly translated to "anything is better than nothing at all," a pre-emptive excuse for those who did not like the album. They actively participate in community-related events, playing benefits for the Chilean National Commission of Scientific and Technological Investigation. They are also known for musical contributions to the popular Chilean children's puppet show 31 Minutos.
Chancho en Piedra has released 11 albums since their debut in 1995, gaining them widespread familiarity, not only in Latin America but internationally as well, allowing them to perform at events such as the Memphis' Beale Street Music Festival in May of 2009.

Tal vez muerto
Estaré mejor
Y sólo muerto comprendí
Todo el tiempo que perdí
Encontrando todo mal
Se me fue mi vida mortal
Ustedes que están vivos
No cometan mi error
Disfruten el momento
Haciendo algo mejor
The song "Tamalacosa" by Chancho En Piedra is a commentary on the state of the world and the issues that plague it. Through the use of the made-up word "tamalacosa," the song expresses a sense of confusion and chaos in the world. The lyrics mention crisis in various parts of the world, including the Middle East and Latin America, as well as the issue of pollution and lack of effective solutions. The song also touches on the themes of consumerism and the need for individuals to take personal responsibility for making positive changes in their own lives.
The chorus, "Ta ma la la co sa," is a repeated phrase that seems to imply that everything is a mess and nothing makes sense. The song also comments on the lack of real solutions being offered by governments and institutions, as well as the prevalence of religion and how it often fails to provide solutions to real-world problems.
In the final verse, the lyrics take a more personal turn with the singer reflecting on their own life and the time that they wasted focusing on the negative aspects of the world. The message seems to be that while the world may be unjust, individuals still have the power to create positive change in their lives and in the world around them.
Overall, "Tamalacosa" is a reflection on the state of the world and a call to action for individuals to take responsibility for creating positive change.
