Angel In My Pocket
Change Lyrics

Hole In My Pocket (1989)
I got a hole in my pocket and I can’t go to the fair
I got a hole in my pocket and I can’t go to the fair
Well I’m blue cause I gotta take and meet my baby there

Well if I don’t show up what’ll my baby do?
But when I don’t show up what’ll my baby do?
She’ll travel through the Tunnel Of Love with somebody new

Well ooh, ooh, ooh what will I do?
My money’s all gone and maybe baby is too
I got a hole in my pocket and I don’t know what to do

I got a hole in my pocket and my money just runs on through
I got a hole in my pocket and my money just runs on through
Can’t seem to save a dollar like my baby kind-a wants me to

Yeah I told my baby we could have a little fun tonight
Yeah I told my baby we could have a little fun tonight
Well it won’t be so funny when there ain’t a bit of money in sight

Well ooh, ooh, ooh what will I do?
My money’s all gone and maybe baby is too
I got a hole in my pocket and I don’t know what to do

Well ooh, ooh, ooh what will I do?
My money’s all gone and maybe baby is too
I got a hole in my pocket and I don’t know what to do
Yeah I got a hole in my pocket and I don’t know what to do

@Bruno Ottina  @Bruno Ottina  While we cannot underestimate the immense contributions of the Italian tour de force that was Italo disco and Italo house and the extended European family of forward thinking electro dance floor boogiefiers, to make the bold and quite frankly absurd claim that disco would not exist in the USA is false.

Disco's roots in the USA began years before there was even a name for it.

The roots of disco lie in Philly Soul and Motown and those sounds were already popular all across America.

In Montreal, Canada disco was the second most important center after NYC. The foundation was Black American music with sprinkles of "imports"

In NYC, the foundation was in the black and black gay communities. That is the source. Without it there would be no disco hence no Italo disco. Besides European producers always used black vocalists and musicians.

It's like saying blues jazz and rock and roll would still exist if black people just stayed in Africa and played traditional African music and America was 99.999999 percent white. No James Brown no Miles Davis or John Coltrane. No Coltrane means no Alexander Robotnik Love Supreme. No James Brown or Pharoah Sanders means no Fela Kuti and no Little Richard means no Beatles or Rolling Stones. You get the picture.

Black American disco DJS always loved searching for those elusive european imports. As long as it was funky and you could dance to it, it became part of the dancefloor experience.

Thats also like saying rap music wouldn't be popular in America if it wasn't for Vanilla Ice.

I have the mind to report you to fact checkers on the grounds your statement is an egregious breach of reality... 🤣

You were my lover just a short time ago
But now that's all behind me
I have an image of you holding me
And your pictures constantly remind me
This is my fairy tale that I just dreamed of
I remember all so clearly
You were the only one I had in my life
And I love you all so dearly

(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll keep moving on
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
(There's an angel in my pocket)
Keeps me on my toes
(And I'll keep moving 'til this feeling goes)

(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll keep moving on
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll find somebody new
(And I'll keep moving 'til this feeling goes)

In passed relations I would go to extremes
But with you I feel the right thing
You tried to hurt me far too many times
When I thought our love was everlasting
This is my fairy tale that I just dreamed of
I remember all so clearly
You were the only one I had in my life
And I loved you all so dearly

(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll keep moving on yea
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
(There's an angel in my pocket)
Keeps me on my toes
(And I'll keep moving 'til this feeling goes)

(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll keep moving on baby
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'll find somebody new
(And I'll keep moving 'til this feeling goes)

(There's an angel in my pocket)
Hope I did the right thing
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
I gotta be right
(There's an angel in my pocket)
I'm looking for that someone
(To take your place and I'll be thru with you)

Oh yea yea
(There's an angel in my pocket)
Have my life right in my hands
(To take your place and I'll be thru with you)

(There's an angel in my pocket)
I have so many dreams
(There is no need for you to play, I'll be with you)
Oh Yea
(There's an angel in my pocket)
(And I'll keep moving 'til this feeling goes)

Technically this is disco heaven. The bass is straight from Bernard Edwards school and you can dance to this all night and the next day

Marco Pas

Bass is Davide Romani; a genius as well.

One of the more underrated tracks on a extremely entertaining album. I've been playing it forever.

I still play this on my homemade cassette from 1981. It's old and the sound goes in and out. I am too young to have partied at Studio 54, but this song reminds me of something that might have been danced to in that club.
