Heaven Of My Life
Change Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A star shining in a universe far away
My heart knows that we shall meet again some sweet day
And you, you will be the flame that burns in my breast
And oh, I know just by knowing you I was blessed,
Yes I was truly blessed

Heaven, Heaven, ooh waiting there for me
Heaven, Heaven, ooh always let it be

So why, tell me why the good die young my old friend
I pray that heaven waits for everyone in the end
And love, love is how we cross that bridge to the light
A star that is what you are in my darkest night
Be always by my side

Heaven, Heaven, ooh waiting there for me
Heaven, Heaven, ooh always let it be

Heaven, Heaven, ooh waiting there for me
Heaven, Heaven, ooh always let it be

@@doteck5.595 Sure. 1) Sister Sledge: "Thinking of You."(My #1)
2)Ashford & Simpson: "It Seems To Hang On." (My # 3, originally my # 1)
3)Change: Heaven Of My Life. (My # 2)
The rest are in no specific order. That's too hard to do because it's all so good. Even the top 3, I have to question the order. Here we go:
4)Donna Summer: "I Love You."
5)Alexander O'Neal: "What Is This Thing Called Love."
6)Rufus & Chaka Khan: "Dancing' For Your Love."
7)Sade: "Hold On To Your Love." (Added to the list today. Couldn't help it. Consider it a bonus track.)
8)Chante Moore: "I Started Crying." (Added to the list today. I forgot about this one when I did the original top ten list and I didn't have the heart to throw any of the others off the list. Consider it a mystery bonus since I have a feeling you've never heard it before.)
9)Paul McCartney & Wings: "Silly Love Songs." (The hook in this track sez it all, plain and simple.)
10)The Culture Club: Time Clock Of The Heart."
11)George Benson: "Love Will Come Again." (Ghostly backing vocals by my all time favorite female songstress.)
12)Change: "The Glow Of Love."
13)Change: "Let's Go Together."
14)T.S. Monk: "Candidate For Love." (Not of the original list that I misplaced; added today.)
15)Incognito: "Love Born In Flames." (Not of the original list that I misplaced. However this track I thought was the perfect track from my all time favorite group to make a contribution with. Added today without prejudice!)
16)Incognito: "Love Has Come Around." (Also added today. You're getting way more than my top 10!)
17)Paul Hardcastle: So Much In Love." ( This one is kinda laid by like Sade's "Hold On To Your Love" but it was too hard not to include. Sorry.
18) Sister Sledge: "One More Time."
19)Earth, Wind & Fire: "Fall In Love With Me."
20)Teena Marie: "I Need Your Lovin'. "
21)Kano: "Can't Stop Your Lovin'." (Wasn't sure about this one but I can't get it out of my head. I wake in the morning and it's in my head!)
22)Surface: Falling In Love."
23)52nd Street: "Tell Me."
24)Loose Ends: Stay A Little While, Child."
25)The Jones Girls: "Nights Over Egypt." (Tied with "Nights Over Egypt" by Incognito. Too hard to pick which of the two are the best.)
Your opinion may differ. I have more songs that would easily fit my category of "Fast Slow Jams." These tracks are met to catch you off guard. Most are best enjoyed as background music at a couples set at a backyard party. To first enjoy the true meaning of each track, my suggestion is that grab some of your favorite beverages, turn the lights down low and listen to each track in your own privacy or with one other person who really understands music and the affectionate feelings these songs attempt to convey. Then you'll understand me.
I want you to start this listening party off with the greatest SLOW jam that was NEVER a love song.
26) Al Hudson & One Way: "Back To Yesterday."
I hope you like this selection. I just couldn't stop at "10." Enjoy.

The bassline gets time to breathe....when the vocals come in, the pocket is LUSH. Just sophisticated soaring funk....can't get enough of this.
