Jobard
Chanson Plus Bifluorée Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Jobard" by Chanson Plus Bifluorée describe a man who has had enough of the wild partying, drinking and debauchery that goes on during the Bodéga (Spanish festival). The man confesses that his liver has already suffered extensively due to drinking a lot of different alcoholic beverages like Sangria and Tequila. He expresses his frustration with the revelry and excessive drinking in the lyrics “Je n'en peux plus de me casser la têta” which means "I can't take this anymore". Despite his dissatisfaction, the man continues to frequent the bar where he is always found. He prefers his bull in dishes as opposed to the bullfighting events that are popular during the Bodéga.

As the night wears on, the man passes out on the pavement outside, "couché comme un chien" which means "lying like a dog". He is as broken as the empty bottles from the previous night. He is no longer interested in the Féria (fairground) as he is tired of the wild lifestyle and has had enough. The chorus reiterates that he is a fool, a Jobard, for indulging in the festivity repeatedly despite the consequences.

Overall, the song emphasizes the excesses and consequences of indulgence, particularly during a festival like Bodéga. The man is aware of his foolishness, but he still continues to drink, party and indulge himself.
