Saturday
You kinda got mad at me
Then you went and said some things
I know you didn't really mean
You said you wasn't feelin' me
And I can see who I want to see
And all that talk about you going to leave
'Cause
If you was on you're way out the door
Would've been gone long time ago
Would've been making plans and packing clothes
Leaving keys but I got you on your knees
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Late that day
You want to get next to me
And tell me that you're so sorry
I wasn't stressing about you anyway
Hmm it's been some days
And you're still in my face
Talkin' bout how I feel you babe
I see I got you hooked on me oh cause
If you was on you're way out the door
Would've been gone long time ago
Would've been making plans and packing clothes
Leaving keys but I got you on your knees
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Talk if you want to
Front if you want
Be where you want to
I know you want to be with me
Talk if you want to
Front if you want
Be where you want to
I know you want to be with me
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Talk if you want to talk
If you want to walk
Walk if you want to walk
If you want to front
Front like you gonna leave
You know you want to be here with me
You can't leave me
Talk if you want to
Front if you want
Be where you want to
I know you want to be with me
Talk if you want to
Front if you want
Be where you want to
I know you want to be with me
In "You Can't Leave Me," Chanté Moore sings about a lover who threatened to leave her during an argument but came back, expressing regret and a desire to make amends. Despite the hurtful things said, the singer is confident that her partner won't actually leave her because they can't resist her allure. The lyrics suggest a level of self-assurance and pride, as well as recognition that the relationship has its ups and downs.
The chorus emphasizes the idea that the partner is powerless to leave, with repeated variations on "You can't leave me." This phrase takes on a double meaning, as it can be read as both a command and a statement of fact. The lyrics also play with the idea of talk versus action, suggesting that the partner may threaten to leave but ultimately won't follow through.
Overall, the song presents a complex and somewhat ambiguous picture of a romantic relationship, one in which both partners struggle with their feelings and impulses.
