Bio: Chant is a trio born in 1999 from an idea of drummer Cristiano Calcanile.
Until 2007, Chant performed as an acoustic trio, releasing an album in 2003 for the Italian label "Caligola" that was enthusiastically received by critics for the strong interplay of the players and the original blend of compositional elements and free improvisation.
In 2007, during the recording of their second album, the trio felt a strong need to rethink their musical working method, and thus the decision of enrich their instrumental and compositional palette. That necessity brought the inclusion of electric and electronic (electric bass and synthesizers) and acoustic instruments (harpsichord, pipe organ, clavichord and harmonium) as well as the use of the recording studio "as an instrument" (a feature that is usually atypical in the improvised music field). This process consisted in one year dedicated to the pre-production of the new material, and a new, longer recording session during Summer 2008 in Finland.
This music is the result of our personal research between composition and improvisation, but with a strong intention of leaving the interplay and the simple joy of playing together intact.

In My Little World
Chant Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The sky is blue
I look at you
You just turn to me
And you smile
[Chorus 1]
All the girls love me
I will bring them to their knees
In my little world
[Verse 2:]
There is no war
In my little world
There is no money
In my little world
[Chorus 2:]
All the flowers are in bloom
In my little world
I will sleep until noon
In my little world
[Verse 3:]
Run Henny Penny
In my little world
All girls names are Betty
In my little world
[Chorus 3]
All the flowers are in bloom
In my little world
I will see you really soon
In my little world
In my little world
In my little lovely world
The lyrics of Chant's song "In My Little World" showcase a world that the singer has created for himself, void of any negativity or struggles. The first verse sets the stage by painting a picture of a beautiful day with a blue sky, and the singer looking at someone special who returns his gaze with a smile. The chorus then reveals that in his little world, he is adored by all the girls and can make them bend to his will.
The second verse takes it a step further by stating that in his little world, there is no war or money, which are two of the biggest sources of conflict and stress in the real world. The second chorus adds that all the flowers are blooming and that he can sleep until noon, further emphasizing the idyllic nature of his little world.
The third verse takes a playful turn by referencing the classic children's story of Henny Penny, and in his little world, all girls are named Betty. The final chorus brings the song to a close by repeating the images of blooming flowers and the promise of being reunited with someone special in his little world.
Overall, the lyrics are a fanciful escape from the harsh realities of the real world, providing a sense of comfort and control for the singer in his little world.
