Bio: Chant is a trio born in 1999 from an idea of drummer Cristiano Calcanile.
Until 2007, Chant performed as an acoustic trio, releasing an album in 2003 for the Italian label "Caligola" that was enthusiastically received by critics for the strong interplay of the players and the original blend of compositional elements and free improvisation.
In 2007, during the recording of their second album, the trio felt a strong need to rethink their musical working method, and thus the decision of enrich their instrumental and compositional palette. That necessity brought the inclusion of electric and electronic (electric bass and synthesizers) and acoustic instruments (harpsichord, pipe organ, clavichord and harmonium) as well as the use of the recording studio "as an instrument" (a feature that is usually atypical in the improvised music field). This process consisted in one year dedicated to the pre-production of the new material, and a new, longer recording session during Summer 2008 in Finland.
This music is the result of our personal research between composition and improvisation, but with a strong intention of leaving the interplay and the simple joy of playing together intact.

A dtainig ariamh
An ghealach is an ghrian
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the day fol the day
Imtheochaidh an ghealach's an ghrian
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the day fol the day
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the day fol the day
Imtheochaidh a dtainig ariamh
an duine og is a chail ne dhiadh
Fol lol the doh fol the day
Fol the day fol the day...
The lyrics to Chant's song "Theme from Harry's Game" are in Irish Gaelic, and are reflective of traditional Irish folk music. The words speak of the passage of time, and the cycles of life and nature. The opening lines "Imtheochaidh soir is siar" evoke the sense of movement and travel, perhaps across the landscape of Ireland. The next lines, "A dtainig ariamh, An ghealach is an ghrian" refer to the cyclical progress of the moon and sun. In essence, the lyrics connect the human experience to the primacy of nature, indicating that people are part of a greater whole.
The chorus, "Fol lol the doh fol the day", has no literal translation, but may be interpreted as a nonsensical phrase that speaks of the rhythm of life. The final lines of the song repeat the earlier verses, emphasizing the cyclical nature of the world, and the repeating patterns that occur in nature and human life.
Overall, the lyrics to "Theme from Harry's Game" are a tribute to traditional Irish songwriting, evoking the beauty and mystery of nature and conveying a sense of deep spirituality and interconnectedness. While the song has never been a commercial success, it has earned a place in the hearts of many music lovers, who appreciate its haunting melody and evocative lyrics.

This was also in the film Patriot Games. It was used in a clever way to emphasise the impact of the previous series about the Northern Irish problems .
