In 1995 she teamed up with Aaliyah, En Vogue, BlackGirl, Mary J. Blige, Vanessa Williams, SWV, and others for the single "Freedom" from the movie Panther.
Savage took two years off before she returned in 1996 with "I Will Survive" from her second album I Will Survive (Doin' It My Way). The lead single became a moderate smash in the U.S., where it reached #5 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and number 12 in the UK. The single was also certified Gold by the RIAA for US single sales of over 500,000 units. In 1997 she, along with Deborah Cox, Heavy D, and Brownstone performed Janet Jackson's #1 single "That's the Way Love Goes" at the Soul Train Music Awards tribute to the popular icon [2]. In 1998 Savage scored another minor hit with "Reminding Me (Of Sef)", performed by Common. It was a top 10 hit on Billboard's Hot Rap chart.
In 1999 she released her third album This Time, its first single "Come Around" which peaked at number 62. Savage wrote all the lyrics and played piano and drums.

With his hands in his pockets and his crocadile feet
Oh I , I will survive
As long as I know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
Cuz I've got all
All my life to live
And I've got so much love to give
I will, I will survive
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
I was afraid, I was petrified
Thinking I could never live without you by my side
And I spent so many nights
Thinking how you did me wrong
But I grew strong
I learned how to get along
So you're back from outer space
I know I'm damned to find ya hear
With that sad look upon your face
I shoulda changed all the locks
I shoulda made you leave your key
If I'da known for one second you'd be back to bother me
1 - Oh now go
Walk out the door
Just turn around now
Cuz you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one that tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did ya think I'd crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no not I
I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
Cuz I got all my life to live
And I got all my love to give
And I'll survive
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent so many nights feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry, but now I hold my head up high
And you see me somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
That's still in love with you
And so you felt like dropping in
Thinking that I'd be fee
But now I'm saving all my loving
For someone who's loving me
Repeat 1
If you wanna know
Do I need you
No no no no no no no no no no no
The lyrics to Chantay Savage's song "I Will Survive" can be interpreted as a strong message of resilience and empowerment. The song begins by questioning the presence of a gigolo on the street and mocking his physical appearance. This introduction could be interpreted as a statement of the singer's power, confidence, and ability to criticize and judge others. Moreover, it sets the tone for the rest of the song, which revolves around the singer's ability to overcome adversity and heartbreak.
The chorus of the song is an anthem of empowerment and optimism. The lyrics "I will survive, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive" evoke a sense of confidence and determination. The singer acknowledges that she has all her life to live and so much love to give, which implies a sense of abundance and positivity. The chorus culminates in the repetition of the phrase "I will survive, I will survive", which reinforces the message of resilience.
The verses of the song tell the story of a woman who was hurt by a lover's goodbye but learned to be strong and got over the heartbreak. She reflects on the many nights she spent feeling sorry for herself and trying to mend her broken heart. However, she eventually realized that she no longer needed her former lover and had moved on to better things. When her former lover returns, she confidently tells him to leave and asserts that she does not need him anymore.

I was afraid, I was petrified
Thinkin' I could never live without you by my side
And now I've spent so many nights
Thinkin' how you did me wrong
But I grew strong, I learned how to get along
To you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
With that sad look upon your face
I should have changed all the locks
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
You'd be back to bother me
Oh, now go, walk out the door
Just turn around now
'Coz you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me
With goodbye, did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think I'd lay down an' die?
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
'Coz I got all my life to live
And I got all my love to give
And I will survive, I will survive
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me
With goodbye?
Took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Tryin' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent so many nights
Feeling sorry for myself, I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me, somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person

An' so you feet like droppin' in
An' thinkin' that I would be free
But now I'm savin' all my lovin'
For someone who's lovin' me
Oh, now go, walk out the door
Just turn around now
'Coz you're not welcome anymore, no
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me
With goodbye, did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love
I know I'll stay alive
'Coz I got all my life to live
And I got all my love to give
And I will survive, yes, I will, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

This song got me out of DEEP depression when my ex wife divorced me to be with someone else. By the time she realized her mistake (5 years later) I met my current wife who has been my heart for 16+ years now.
