Aznavour has sung for presidents, popes and royalty, as well as at humanitarian events. In response to the 1988 Armenian earthquake, he founded the charitable organization Aznavour for Armenia along with his long-time friend impresario Levon Sayan. In 2009, he was appointed ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland, as well as Armenia's permanent delegate to the United Nations at Geneva. On 24 August 2017, Aznavour was awarded the 2,618th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On 17 September 2018, his last concert took place in NHK Hall, Tokyo.
Charles Aznavour died on 1 October 2018.
Charles Aznavour was perhaps the best-known French music hall entertainer in the world -- renowned the world over for the bittersweet love songs he has written and sung, which seem to embody the essence of French popular song, and also for his appearances on screen in such wildly divergent fare as Shoot the Piano Player, Candy, and The Tin Drum. His status as the quintessential French popular culture icon is something of an irony for a man who identifies himself most closely with his Armenian heritage. His father was a singer and sometime-restaurateur, while his mother was an actress and part-time seamstress. His father's singing, done in a notably impassioned style, heavily influenced Aznavour's approach to singing as a boy. Although he had a voracious appetite for music, he also had a serious impediment growing up, in the form of a paralyzed vocal cord that gave his voice a raspy quality. He channeled some of his energy into theater, making both his stage and screen debuts at age nine, in 1933, in the theater piece Un bon petit diable and in the film La guerre des gosses. As an adolescent, he danced in nightclubs and sold newspapers, as well as touring with theatrical companies, and he wrote a nightclub act in partnership with Pierre Roche -- Aznavour wrote the lyrics to their songs and it was through that material that he began his singing career. Early on, he learned to overcome his fears about his vocal limitations, in part with help from singing legend Édith Piaf, for whom he worked as a chauffeur, among other capacities; with her help, he developed a style that suited his capabilities and played to his strengths and also continued writing songs in earnest, some of which were performed by Piaf.
His success came very slowly, however. Aznavour at first found some difficulty being accepted as a composer in France or anywhere else. His compositions, although considered tame by any modern standard, were regarded as too risqué for French radio and were banned from the airwaves for a decade or more, from the late '40s through the end of the 1950s; American publishers seemed equally reticent about them, as he discovered on a visit to New York in 1948. That trip did yield his first performing engagement in the city, however, at the Cafe Society Downtown in Greenwich Village. For the next decade, Aznavour made his living as a performer in second-tier clubs and middle- or bottom-of-the-bill berths on three continents. His mix of daringly original and frank love songs, coupled with a limited but very expressive singing style, left audiences somewhat bewildered at first.
His breakthrough came in 1956, during a vaudeville engagement in Casablanca, where the audience reaction was so positive that Aznavour was moved to headliner status. After this, it became easier for the singer to find better engagements in France; by 1958 he even had a recording contract. He made his screen debut that same year in a dramatic role, playing an epileptic in George Franju's La tête contre les murs. He also composed music for Alex Joff's Du rififi chez les femmes in 1958; From there, he moved on to bigger roles in better movies, including Jean Cocteau's Testament of Orpheus and Francois Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player. The latter movie turned Aznavour into a screen star in France and opened the way for his breakthrough in America. He sang at Carnegie Hall in the early '60s and followed this up in 1965 with a one-man show, The World of Charles Aznavour, at the Ambassador Hotel in New York, which drew rave notices from audiences and critics alike. By that time, the once-struggling singer had secured his first American LP release with the similarly titled album The World of Charles Aznavour on Reprise Records, the label founded and run by Frank Sinatra.
Aznavour would be the last to compare himself with those whom he regards as truly gifted vocalists, such as Sinatra and Mel Tormé, preferring to think of himself as a composer who also happens to sing. His style of performing has been compared variously to Maurice Chevalier and Sinatra and has remained enduringly popular for four decades. Almost all of Aznavour's songs deal with love and its permutations, running the gamut from upbeat, joyous pieces such as Après l'amour and J'ai perdu la tête to the dark-hued J'en déduis que je t'aime and Bon anniversaire. A teetotaler and a racing car enthusiast, Aznavour has been married three times and has four children.

Que tes cheveux s'amusent à défier le soleil
Par leur éclat de feu
Parc'que tu as vingt ans
The lyrics of Charles Aznavour's song Parce Que depict a love that is all-consuming and sometimes tumultuous. The song starts with the singer acknowledging the physical attributes of his lover- her blue eyes and fiery hair that challenge the sun. He then goes on to describe her as a young woman who is carefree and lives life to the fullest with an insatiable appetite for experiences. The singer is deeply in love with his muse and tolerates the selfish and childish behavior she displays towards him. However, he also gives a warning that if pushed too far, he may end their relationship abruptly.
The chorus of the song reveals just how much the singer is in love with his lover. He says that she lives within him, and nothing can replace the moments of happiness he finds in her embrace. He would be willing to die for her because in his mind, love is everything, and life without love is meaningless. He ends the song by reiterating that he never wants to lose the love they share.
Overall, Parce Que is a song that explores the complexities of love, the willingness to tolerate undesirable behavior from a loved one, and the all-consuming nature of true love.

Parce que tu crois
Que tu es ma faiblesse
Tu me blesses
Me meurtris
Et te joues de moi
Comme de toutes choses
Et disposes
De ma vie
Et jour et nuit
Parce que tu crois
Être ma raison d'être
Tu fais naitre
Ma douleur
Et bien malgrè toi
En tout cas je le pense
Tu dépenses
Le bonheur
Qui vit dans mon coeur
Un jour peut venir
Demain peut-être ou bien dans l'avenir
Ou qui sait mon Dieu
Le destin viendra pour brouiller les jeux
Tout ce que tu crois
Être toi sans réserve
Comme un rêve au matin
Peut brisant ta loi
Laisser tes yeux humides
Et le vide dans tes mains
Parce que tu crois
Que je suis un esclave
Une épave
De l'amour
Tu puises tes joies
Et tu forges tes armes
Dans les larmes
Sans secours
De mon coeur lourd
Parce que tu crois
Que je fus mis au monde
Pour que blonde
Déchaînée
Tu me mènes au pas
Sans faire sacrifice
D'un caprice
D'une idée
D'enfant gâté
Quand tout sera mort
Quand la passion aura quitté mon corps
Je me reprendrai
Et je te quitterai sans un regret
Parce que je crois
Qu'un jour dans un sourire
Je vais dire
Que nous deux
C'est fini, tu vois
Et qu'enfin il ne reste
Que le geste
De l'adieu

Porque Você Acredita
Porque você acredita
Que você é minha fraqueza
Você me machuca
Me magoa
E brinca comigo
Como com todas as coisas
E dispõe
Da minha vida
Dia e noite
Porque você acredita
Ser minha razão de ser
Você faz nascer
A dor em mim
E, apesar de você
Em todo caso, acho
Você gasta
A felicidade
Que mora no meu coração
Um dia pode vir
Amanhã, talvez ou, então, no futuro
Em que, quem sabe, meu Deus
O destino virá para embaralhar os jogos
Tudo o que você acredita
Ser seu sem reservas
Como um sonho pela manhã
Pode, desrespeitando sua lei
Deixar seus olhos molhados
E o vazio nas suas mãos
Porque você acredita
Que eu sou um escravo
Um destroço
Do amor
Você busca suas alegrias
E forja suas armas
Nas lágrimas
Sem o socorro
Do meu coração pesado
Porque você acredita
Que eu fui posto neste mundo
Para que, sendo loira
Desenfreada
Você me dirija
Sem sacrificar
Um capricho
Uma ideia
De criança mimada
Quando tudo estiver morto
Quando a paixão tiver deixado meu corpo
Vou me corrigir
E vou te deixar, sem arrependimento
Porque eu acredito
Que um dia, com um sorriso
Eu direi
Que nós dois
Acabou, entende?
E que, finalmente, só me resta
O gesto
De adeus

@Lisa Villar Porque crees
Porque crees
Que eres mi debilidad
Me hieres
Me afliges
Y te burlas de mi 1
Como de todas las cosas
Y dispones
De mi vida
Y noche y dia
Porque crees
Ser mi razón de ser
Haces brotar
Mi dolor
Y bien a mi pesar
O al menos así lo pienso
Gastas la alegría
Que vive en mi corazón
Un día puede llegar
Tal vez mañana o más adelante
Cuando ¡quien sabe Dios mio!
El destino vendrá a entorpecer los juegos
Todo lo que crees
Que te pertenece sin reserva
Como un sueño a la mañana
Puede romper tu ley
Dejar tus ojos húmedos
Y el vacío en tus manos
Porque crees
Que soy un esclavo
Un despojo
Del amor
Extraes tus alegrías
Y forjas tus armas
En las lágrimas
Sin auxilio
De mi corazón apenado
Porque crees
Que fui puesto en el mundo
Para que rubia
Desatada
Me lleves al paso
Sin hacer ningún sacrificio
Por un capricho
Una idea
De niña malcriada
Cuando todo esté muerto
Cuando la pasión haya abandonado mi cuerpo
Me recuperaré
Y te dejaré sin remordimiento
Porque creo
Que un día en una sonrisa
Diré
Que lo nuestro
Se ha acabado, ¿entiendes?
Y que finalmente solo me queda
El gesto
De la despedida

Because you believe
Because you believe
you are my weakness
You hurt me
You wound my soul
And you play me
Like all other things
And have my life
At your disposal
Day and night
Because you believe
You are the reason of my existence
You give birth
To my pain
And well inspite of you.
In any case I think
You use up the happiness
which lives in my heart
A day will come
tomorrow or maybe in the future
Where? Who Knows my God
The distiny will change
The game
All that you believe
Is thoroughly yours
Like a morning dream
Can break your law
Leave your eyes wet
and leave the void in your hands
Because you believe
I am a slave
A love-wrecked
You draw your joys
And forge your weapons
in tears
Without help
Of my heavy heart
Because you believe
I am born
Just for a destructive
blond girl
You keep me on a leash
Without sacrificing
An impulsive idea
Of a spolied child
When all is dead
When the passion
has left my body
I will get back on my feet
And I will leave you without any regret
Because I do believe
One day with a smile
I will say
We two
are finished you see
and at the end
Nothing has left for me
But the gesture
of goodbye

Rest in peace to the legend who created two classic American hip hop classics, Dr. Dre "whats the difference" and Blu Cantrell "breathe". The original puts me at ease. Merci, Charles.

Listen to a song named Dirty Laundry by Bitter:Sweet. They’re a trip hop group who used the sample also. The song is good.
