He is widely regarded as one of the first American classical composers of international significance. Ives's music was largely ignored during his life, and many of his works went unperformed for many years. Over time, Ives would come to be regarded as one of the "American Originals", a composer working in a uniquely American style, with American tunes woven through his music, and a reaching sense of the possibilities in music.

Lubimov gives such an absurdly great performance of this sonata. Thank you for introducing us to him.

I am so great full to you for posting this wonderful interpretation of this beautiful piece. It shows how it should be played. Wonderful. Thank you so much.

I've never heard this performed by someone who can play those tenths without jumping. Makes a really great sound. Too bad he rushes a lot of the long notes; otherwise it's a brilliant performance--probably the best I've heard.

Musically 10ths but physically the stretch is as long as an 11th.

I played the C's with the right thumb and B-Flat with the left thumb, and it let me avoid rolling the chords.
