With a musical journey that has crisscrossed all kinds of rock music, folk music, and electronic music, he carries a songwriting sense that aims to capture dense images of life with God,
in compositions that can be carried with the listener. He aims to tell the old story of the Gospel in an ever-shifting world, without resorting to easy truisms, or lazy language. His new collection of songs, The Bright Sadness, echoes a journey pressed to the chest of God, joyful and sorrowful at once, with God's heart clear and pulsing in each note and word. It wraps liturgy with the unexpected, and daily mundanity with daily surprise.
As many of the Passion collegiate gatherings were recorded live, Hall was quickly dubbed "a voice" for the Passion movement, performing on all eight Passion albums, which have sold more than one million units.
Charlie expresses the desire to be "honed into God, where I'm not part of a culture where I'm trying to make the people around me think, 'Hey, that's a good Christian.' I'm just trying to pursue God and not pursue being accepted into a club...I'm more honed into my pursuit of God in Christ and how he's forming me and changing and helping me love him and know him.
Renewing and encouraging local churches, engaging young and old with social justice action, widening hearts to see God at work in the whole world, spurring local artists on to imaginative and creative expression, and offering songs of rest to those who are simply tired are some of the hopes of Charlie, and his band of gypsies. Hall's band, in which he performs vocals and guitar, consists of Kendall Combes (electric guitar), Brian Bergman (keyboard), Dustin Ragland (drums), and Quint Anderson (bass guitar).

Humble themselves and pray and turn away from their
Wicked ways
I will come and heal their land If my people pray
If my pe - ople would pray
[Chorus:]
Oh the blind man can see the lame ones could wald the
People would be free
Oh the passion restored Alive to Jesus and dead to this
World
Lord lift up our eyes Holy Spirit come And Lord don't
Pass Don't pass us by
And the Lord said Climb the mountain child seek my face
With your
Heart
Ooh weep and cry to be set apart I'll pour my spirit
Raining down
Breaking hearts that are hard and bound If my people who
Know my ways
Would fall to their face and pray
Heal the sick feed the poor clothe the naked see the
Wicked be saved
When you pray if we'd pray
The lyrics of Charlie Hall's "Don't Pass Us By" convey the message that if God's people humble themselves, pray, and turn away from their wicked ways, their land will be healed. The song begins with a quote from the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14, where the Lord instructs His people that if they pray and turn away from their sins, He will come and heal their land. The chorus then describes the various ways in which the people would be blessed if they prayed. Broken hearts would be healed, empty souls would be filled, the blind could see, the lame could walk, the people would be free, and their passion would be restored. The lyrics then urge God to come and lift up their eyes and for the Holy Spirit to come and guide them.
The second verse builds off the first and asks God's people to climb the mountain, to seek His face with their hearts and to weep and cry to be set apart. The lyrics portray God pouring His spirit down like rain and breaking the hearts that are hard and bound, thereby helping His people to know His ways and fall to their faces and pray. The lyrics then urge God's people to heal the sick, feed the poor, clothe the naked, and see the wicked be saved. The song ends with a final plea to pray.
Overall, Charlie Hall's "Don't Pass Us By" is a call to prayer, repentance, and a reminder of the Lord's promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14. The lyrics urge God's people to turn away from their wicked ways and pray for their nation's healing. It is a moving song that inspires listeners to seek God's face for healing, guidance, and redemption.
