The song, carries on the terminal part of the “love story”, that runs through the entire album by Charlie Puth. We witness, this way, the phase of regret of the boy, who apologizes for all his mistakes to the girl. In this sense, it also seems to be a direct link to “How Long”, in which the girl accused the partner of betrayal.

Initially it was thought that it would be released at the beginning of March 2018, but his release took place on 11 May 2018, with the rest of his album.

The singer teased the song even on Twitter: on April 8, 2018 Puth published a tweet and immediately deleted it.

A clear reference to the video of “Patient”, directed by Colin Tilley, in which Charlie Puth plays the song with a Fender Rhodes piano.

Every song on this album is so full of Charlie. He put so much into this album. I appreciate his music so much bcz it’s like a piece of himself that he is giving to us. It’s like a part of him that he gets to share with his fans and bcz he gives his all it just makes it that much better. I can honestly say I haven’t loved another artist like I do Charlie’s music. His music is everything. I admire him and all that he does for us his fans. Thanks for everything Charlie. Your music, your voice, your talent is there for us in a way that I can’t really explain but if I had to I guess I would have to say that it fills a void inside. It’s emotional and creative and so full of so many feelings and expressions and other things that it fills you up and makes you feel full, like complete in a way. I don’t know if that makes sense but that’s how it effects me. I admire what you do, I admire how you make your songs and look up to you. You’re an incredible person, songwriter, musician and you deserve all the success, love, support, happiness, and good things in this world! Love one of your truest fans.

This song made me cried when I heard for the first time. As I cried when I heard “look at her now” and “loose to love me”. My comment on the video of CP in Genius:
Wow! That situation was bad but he could have been more mature and really tell her what he wanted, tell her the truth and win her heart. He really loved her so he should have at least tried. Too bad they were both immature. Some girls really like to play hard to get to see if the guy really want them or they just want something else. I know because I’m one of them. This song is actually criminally underrated from the opening a very simple arrangment and vocals and the build up and overall production on this is chefs kiss the vocal range and the instrumentation all just comes together to be a true earworm. Goal is to see puth perform this live except that will never happen cuz i have crippling social anxiety
