Heaven and Back
Chase Atlantic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She was always dealing with the devil
She was always into taking those chances
Said she met a couple other women
Who were into going late night dancing

Then she fell in love with a pill
That could take away all her pain, yeah
Then she fell in love with a whole new drug
That could fill her veins
And then

She's high
She lives in the sky
Tonight she's satisfied
Rolling back her eyes
But then she starts to cry
Everything is turning to black
All in one night
She just went to heaven and back

Boiling water
Dying in an empty corner
Tied to aluminum borders
She tried but the obsidian caught her

And it might seem like she's crazy
By the things that she might say, but
While you're talking she shoots
Diamorphine right into her veins
And then

She's high
She lives in the sky
Tonight she's satisfied
Rolling back her eyes
But then she starts to cry
Everything is turning to black
All in one night
She just went to heaven and back

Oh yeah
She went to heaven and back
Oh yeah
She went to heaven and back
Now everything is turning to black
All in one night
She just went to heaven and back

Heaven and back
Heaven and back
Heaven and back

Well, you lied
You said you were fine
But now you're terrified
Say you don't wanna die
Then you start to cry
You wish that you could take it all back

'Cause you just went to heaven and back

She's high
She lives in the sky
Tonight she's satisfied
Rolling back her eyes
But then she starts to cry
Everything is turning to black
All in one night
She just went to heaven and back

She went to heaven and back
She went to heaven and back
Now everything is turning to black

All in one night
She just went to heaven and back

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Chase Atlantic's song HEAVEN AND BACK talk about a girl who is always looking for thrill and thrill-seeking activities. She falls in love with drugs that can take away her pain and fill her veins, making her feel high, satisfied, and rolling her eyes. However, this experience is short-lived, and the girl finds herself crying as everything turns black. The lyrics suggest that the girl may have overdosed, and her experience of going to heaven and back could be a reference to the feeling of being close to death and coming back.

The lyrics paint a picture of the dangers of drug abuse and the consequences that come along with it. The girl is depicted as someone who is addicted to the thrill and the high that the drugs give her, but at the same time, she is afraid of dying. The lyrics show the conflicting emotions that come with drug addiction, the pleasure of the high and the pain of the addiction.

@Kafetti

Can I talk to you for 30 seconds?

I found chase atlantic when I was at a super big low in my life. I came across “right here” and it reminded me of the way I and my former partner had just split. It propelled me to make music.
Now alot of time has passed and I still listen to the lads (they are Aussie like me which is great to see)

I believe I have something meaningful to share, and that your time listening to me will not be wasted. Whats the worst that can happen?

Love y’all
💜Kafetti
