In 2008, iTunes named Chase one of the best new singer/songwriters of the year. Since then, he has continuously been on the iTunes top 100 singer/songwriter chart alongside classic artists such as Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake and great new artists such as William Fitzsimmons, The Weepies and Brett Dennen. Recently, Chase’s song “If the Moon Fell Down Tonight” was featured on an iTunes Essentials Rising Stars compilation.
To date, he has released one full-length CD (Look How Far We’ve Come) and three EPs (Dear Juliet, Goodbyes and Autumn Skies and December), selling more downloads than many of his contemporaries.
This year Chase is recording his first studio album for Universal Republic with a cinematic acoustic and string production that will further distinguish Chase and bring more attention to his music. In addition, Chase has toured extensively this year for the first time bringing his music live to the large fan base he has developed across the U.S. and the world.

Deathbed
Chase Coy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm struggling to stay awake
And you, are laying on your deathbed, But you don't know it yet.
It's all just a bit to much and so I
Step outside for just a moment.
For just a moment.
I stare out a dirty window pane
Pours down and it covers Everything.
And masks the noise from all the
Medical machinery
I am left with the sound of your
Labor breathing.
(Chorus)
But you are close to going home now.
Your father welcomes you with
Open arms.
A room has been prepared
And so you don't have to be scared
As you leave behind the struggles
Of this world.
The next day came with no improvments
Leaving you to explain
These things take time.
These things take time.
You told me you were ready and
You weren't afraid to die.
He is always watching over you and I.
(Chorus)
Doot do's
(Chorus)
The song Deathbed by Chase Coy is a poignant narrative of a visit to a dying loved one in a hospital room. The singer, torn between staying awake and leaving the room to take a break, steps outside for a moment, gazing outside a dirty window, and listening to the rain as it pours down to cover everything, including the sound of the medical machinery. Upon returning to the room, he is left with the sound of his loved one's labor breathing. The chorus brings in the idea that the loved one is close to going home now, and their father is waiting to welcome them with open arms, assuring them that they do not have to be scared as they leave behind the struggles of this world.
The next day offers no improvements, and the loved one explains that things take time. However, they mention being ready and not afraid to die, knowing that someone is always watching over them and the singer. The chorus repeats the same lyrics, providing a sense of closure and acceptance. The song's lyrics are simple yet powerful and manage to convey the singer's feelings of sadness, helplessness, and hope in the face of death.
