In 2008, iTunes named Chase one of the best new singer/songwriters of the year. Since then, he has continuously been on the iTunes top 100 singer/songwriter chart alongside classic artists such as Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake and great new artists such as William Fitzsimmons, The Weepies and Brett Dennen. Recently, Chase’s song “If the Moon Fell Down Tonight” was featured on an iTunes Essentials Rising Stars compilation.
To date, he has released one full-length CD (Look How Far We’ve Come) and three EPs (Dear Juliet, Goodbyes and Autumn Skies and December), selling more downloads than many of his contemporaries.
This year Chase is recording his first studio album for Universal Republic with a cinematic acoustic and string production that will further distinguish Chase and bring more attention to his music. In addition, Chase has toured extensively this year for the first time bringing his music live to the large fan base he has developed across the U.S. and the world.

The end of the school year
And as summer draws near
I'm growing anxious still
Birds are singin' in my backyard
So the sun can't be too far off
Painting the landscape
And this is the last summer we'll have
All to ourselves
Before next year when we have to pack and move on out
No matter what happens
I'll miss the friends I've made in this town
And I wish
That time would just slow down
I wonder what the future holds for me
It's terrifying honestly
So I guess I'll just wait and see if I survive
And this is the last summer we'll have
All to ourselves
Before next year when we have to pack and move on out
No matter what happens
I'll miss the friends I've made in this town
And I wish
Time would just slow down slow down
Down slow down
Down slow down
Down slow down
Slow down
And this is the last summer we'll have
All to ourselves
Before next year when we have to pack and move on out
No matter what happens
I'll miss the friends I've made in this town
And I wish
That time would just slow down
The song "Slow Down" by Chase Coy is a reflective and poignant song about the fleeting nature of time and growing up. The combination of upbeat guitar strums and a melancholic tone in Coy's voice make the song both a nostalgic and wistful experience. In the first verse, Coy draws on classic imagery of spring, symbolizing new beginnings and change. He notes that the school year is ending and summer is coming, which is a time of excitement and possibility, but he is still anxious about what the future holds for him. The second verse is more introspective, as Coy expresses his fears and apprehensions about the unknown future that awaits him. He acknowledges that it is scary, but he resolves to face it head-on.
The chorus of the song is what really drives home the sentiment of the song - "...and this is the last summer we'll have all to ourselves, before next year when we have to pack and move on out. No matter what happens, I'll miss the friends I've made in this town. And I wish that time would just slow down." Here, Coy is lamenting the end of an era in his life, where he and his friends can hang out and enjoy their youth before they all move on to new chapters. He wishes that time would slow down because he wants to cherish and savor every moment before it's all gone.
Overall, "Slow Down" captures the universal experience of growing up and leaving behind familiar people, places, and things. The song is a reminder to appreciate what we have while we have it, and to not take anything for granted.
