In 2008, iTunes named Chase one of the best new singer/songwriters of the year. Since then, he has continuously been on the iTunes top 100 singer/songwriter chart alongside classic artists such as Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake and great new artists such as William Fitzsimmons, The Weepies and Brett Dennen. Recently, Chase’s song “If the Moon Fell Down Tonight” was featured on an iTunes Essentials Rising Stars compilation.
To date, he has released one full-length CD (Look How Far We’ve Come) and three EPs (Dear Juliet, Goodbyes and Autumn Skies and December), selling more downloads than many of his contemporaries.
This year Chase is recording his first studio album for Universal Republic with a cinematic acoustic and string production that will further distinguish Chase and bring more attention to his music. In addition, Chase has toured extensively this year for the first time bringing his music live to the large fan base he has developed across the U.S. and the world.

And I'm starting to figure out that I can not live without you
I hope you're thinking of me
Cause all the stars above me sing your name
I'll never be the same again
So please don't forget to call me
Just to let me know you're doing ohkay, miles away from me
This summerr was the best I've ever had
I never want to see it end
So let's pretend that we're never going back home again
Just say those three words I know you're thinking
I'm sick of wasting time on these formalities
Please never leave my side
So please don't forget to call me
Just to let me know you're doing ohkay, miles away from me
So please don't forget to call me
Just to let me know you're doing ohkay, miles away from me
So please tell me, darling, why you're so far away when
I need you beside me tonight
So please tell me, darling, why you're so far away when
I need you beside me tonight
So please don't forget to call me
Just to let me know you're doing ohkay, miles away from me
The lyrics of Chase Coy’s “Summer’s Song” convey a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia for the end of summer and longing for the person the singer has a strong emotional connection with. The first verse implies that the singer has realized, towards the end of summer, that he cannot live without the person he has feelings for. The stars above him sing her name, indicating that the thoughts of the person he cares for are all-pervading. The singer acknowledges that things have changed, he will never be the same again.
In the chorus, the singer implores her to keep in touch with him and let him know that she’s okay, miles away from him. The juxtaposition of someone he cares so much about being so far from him is heartbreaking. The second verse suggests that the summer the two have had together has been magical and he never wants it to end. The desire to hold onto the moment of togetherness is palpable in the line “let's pretend that we're never going back home again.” The singer wants the other person to be honest and express their emotions, and not just to go through the formalities. The last stanza is a plea for her to be beside him on this long, lonely night.
Overall, this song captures the essence of the end of summer and the longing for the people left behind. The song is a poignant expression of a moment in time that is fleeting, and even the happiest of times must come to an end.
