One of the best known American power pop bands, the group's biggest hits over the years include "I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", "Don't Be Cruel" (a cover of Elvis Presley's hit), and "The Flame". Their most recent release, The Latest, has gained critical acclaim. They also wrote and performed the theme song for "The Colbert Report" as well as "That 70s Show", both tunes being fan favorites.
Nielsen and Petersson originally formed the group as Fuse in 1967, with Carlos joining the group several years later; however, when Zander joined as vocalist in 1972, the group was renamed Cheap Trick. Zander is considered one of the best hard rock vocalists of his era. For their part, Tom Petersson has been known for playing custom made 8, 12, and even a 18 string custom bass made by Modulus for Tom in 1981 and Rick Nielsen also has a penchant for unusual instruments. He owns and plays a five-necked solidbody electric guitar (it can be seen in the video for the song "She's Tight" among others).

Cheap Trick Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Every night when I see your eyes
You look like no other
Even though the world has all kinds
You can find friends and lovers
[Chorus]
Where have you been all my life?
I've been lookin' every night
I'll be with you from now on
Hey, hey, hey
You've got me all wound up and ready to go
Hey, hey, hey
You've got me all wound up and ready to go
If you feel left out in the crowd
You are not the only
You can go where the music is loud
And you won't be so lonely
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
Hey, hey, hey
You've got me all wound up and ready to go
Hey, hey, hey
You've got me all wound up and ready to go
Hey, hey, hey
You've got me all wound up and ready to go
Ready to go
The song "All Wound Up" by Cheap Trick is an upbeat and catchy tune that is about finding that special someone who makes you feel alive and ready to take on the world. The opening lines, "You've got me all wound up and ready to go," indicate that the singer is excited and energized by this person. The lyrics suggest that this person is unique and stands out from the crowd, as the singer notes that "You look like no other," and acknowledges that even though the world has all kinds of people, this person is special.
The chorus of the song, with its repetitive refrain of "Where have you been all my life? Why did you wait so long?" further emphasizes the singer's excitement and confusion about why it took so long to find such a special person.
