One of the best known American power pop bands, the group's biggest hits over the years include "I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", "Don't Be Cruel" (a cover of Elvis Presley's hit), and "The Flame". Their most recent release, The Latest, has gained critical acclaim. They also wrote and performed the theme song for "The Colbert Report" as well as "That 70s Show", both tunes being fan favorites.
Nielsen and Petersson originally formed the group as Fuse in 1967, with Carlos joining the group several years later; however, when Zander joined as vocalist in 1972, the group was renamed Cheap Trick. Zander is considered one of the best hard rock vocalists of his era. For their part, Tom Petersson has been known for playing custom made 8, 12, and even a 18 string custom bass made by Modulus for Tom in 1981 and Rick Nielsen also has a penchant for unusual instruments. He owns and plays a five-necked solidbody electric guitar (it can be seen in the video for the song "She's Tight" among others).

Cheap Trick Lyrics

I don't really have a clue
But all I see is in your eyes
And what I see is really you
Now I'm in the voice of reason
The reason I'm so confused
So where do you think you're leavin' now?
So what do you think I'll do?
You know it's no place for me
And we have been nice and slow
And you wanna be rid of me
No, this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere's the place to be
You know this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere is where you'll be
Don't know what you're thinking
You took the "you" out of me
And I can't see that I had any right
To what you see, we could ever be
I'm not the voice of reason
You know that's so confused
So when do you think you're leaving now?
So what do you think you'll do?
Don't tell me where you're going now
I don't really care to know
It could've been nice to have told me
When you wanted me to go
No, this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere's the place to be
You know this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere is where you'll be
No, this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere's the place to be
You know this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere is where you'll be
No, this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere's the place to be
You know this is leading to nowhere
And nowhere is where you'll be, yeah
The lyrics to Cheap Trick's song "Nowhere" convey a sense of confusion and disconnect between two people in a relationship. The singer is unsure of what their partner is thinking and feeling, and they feel like they are losing a sense of themselves in the relationship. The repeated line "No, this is leading to nowhere" emphasizes the sense of aimlessness and uncertainty in the situation. The song also touches on the idea of wanting to hold onto something that may not be good for us, as the singer pleads with their partner not to leave but also acknowledges that staying together may not be healthy. Overall, the lyrics are a poignant portrayal of the complexities of romantic relationships and the difficulties of knowing when it's time to let go.
