One More Day
Cheap Trick Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Give me just a little bit (little bit mo')
Just another try (to even up the sco')
Give me just a little bit-AH (I wanna taste some mo')
Give me just a little bit and then I need some more
(Give me just a little bit and then I need some more)

Can I have a little bit-uh (a little bit-a-you
A leetle bit more (A leetle bit mo' then a leetle bit mo')
Who's that knockin' (knockin' at the do')
It's just me like I said before (knockin at the do' like I said befo')

(Wow!) All I need is one more day
One more hour, one more way
I'll be in sunshine and here I'm gonna stay
Please let me stay
I'm askin' one more time
Just one more day

There I go I go again (to even up the sco')
Callin' in for more (callin' in for mo', callin' in for mo')
If I see a little bit-uh (can I see a little bit)
A little bit-o-this and a little bit more (a little bit-o-this and a little bit more)

All I need is one more day
One more hour, one more way
I'll be in sunshine and here I'm gonna lay
Please let me stay
I'm askin' one more time
Just one more day yeah

All I hear is no no no
One more hour and then I'll go
Deep inside you'll never find me again, find me again
I'm never comin' back, comin' back again

(Instrumental)

(Yeah, yeah)

All I need is one more day
One more hour, one more way
I'll be in sunshine and here I'm gonna lay
Please let me stay
I'm askin' one more time
Just one more day

All I hear is no no no
One more time and then I'll go
Deep inside you'll never find me again, find me again
I'm never comin' back, for one more day yeah

Yeah yeah yeah

Woo-hoo
Yeah yeah.....

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Cheap Trick's song One More might seem straightforward on first listen, but repeated listens reveal a more complex story. The song is essentially about someone asking for one more chance at a relationship or a fling. The opening lines, “Give me just a little bit / Just another try,” set the song up as a plea for a second chance. The singer then becomes more explicit, asking for “just a little bit more” and stating that they “need some more.”

The chorus then repeats this idea, with the singer asking for “just one more day” to stay in “sunshine.” This can be read as a metaphor for trying to cling to the happy moments in life, but also as a desire to hold onto a relationship that may be ending. The line “All I hear is no no no / One more time and then I’ll go” suggests that the other person may be hesitant to give the singer another chance.

The song ends with the singer declaring that they will never come back for “one more day” again. This final line suggests that the story may not have a happy ending and that the singer may never get the chance they so desperately crave.

Overall, One More is a song that captures the desperation and yearning of someone who wants one more shot at love.

My cousin and I were going to see them at a fair, on the way it started to rain VERY hard. We decided to go anyway, showed up and there were like 20 people there, they played the concert for us. Best private show of all time, they were taking request.

That’s a class act. Good for them. Great for you!

You lucky bastard!!! I went to see Blue Oyster Cult in 1988 at the Pismo Beach theater..2 shows 2 hours each. I had a ticket for the first show...but a certain band member was 2 hours late...that turned into 4 hours late...to much cocaine!! But they played 4 hours...the people that waited from the first show..stayed to the second...then the people from the second left so it was just us die hards..I couldn't hear for 3 weeks!!! Greatest show besides my one Rush concert I went to.

Just saw them at a local casino a few nights ago. Great concert! Same strong voice, same great music, even in their 70s. They have not lost their edge. One of the most underrated bands ever.

@karmwatson4594

They're still playing ? I'd probably sell a kidney to see them

@Elechick

I’m seeing them in a few months, they’re opening for Rod Stewart. I can’t wait!!!
