One of the best known American power pop bands, the group's biggest hits over the years include "I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", "Don't Be Cruel" (a cover of Elvis Presley's hit), and "The Flame". Their most recent release, The Latest, has gained critical acclaim. They also wrote and performed the theme song for "The Colbert Report" as well as "That 70s Show", both tunes being fan favorites.
Nielsen and Petersson originally formed the group as Fuse in 1967, with Carlos joining the group several years later; however, when Zander joined as vocalist in 1972, the group was renamed Cheap Trick. Zander is considered one of the best hard rock vocalists of his era. For their part, Tom Petersson has been known for playing custom made 8, 12, and even a 18 string custom bass made by Modulus for Tom in 1981 and Rick Nielsen also has a penchant for unusual instruments. He owns and plays a five-necked solidbody electric guitar (it can be seen in the video for the song "She's Tight" among others).

Cheap Trick Lyrics

Feels like givin' the child gettin' lost losin' my mind
I'm feelin' low and I got no place to go
Gettin' all tied up, feelin' all tied up yeah yeah
Oh yesterday feels like running away
And I know, I'm givin' up my time to still love
Still love love's got me blind
My mind sees the things I don't know and I got no place to go
Things I need to tell you love
You'll be true I know
There's still a chance for a better life
Yes, I know
The lyrics to Cheap Trick's song Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace express feelings of confusion, frustration, and a sense of being lost. The opening line "Yesterday feels like running away" suggests that the singer is trying to leave their problems behind, but they can't seem to escape their troubles. The following lines "Feels like givin' the child gettin' lost losin' my mind" convey a sense of hopelessness and a lack of direction in the singer's life. They feel like they're losing their mind and they don't know what to do.
The chorus "And I know, I'm givin' up my time to still love, Still love love's got me blind" suggests that the singer is aware of the sacrifice they are making for love, yet they still feel like love is blinding them and they can't see what's really happening around them. They feel like they're tied up in this love and they can't escape from it, even though they might want to. The lines "Things I need to tell you love, You'll be true I know" convey a need for honesty and trust in the singer's relationship, and they express a sense of hope that things can get better. The final lines "There's still a chance for a better life, Yes, I know" suggest that despite the difficulties, the singer still holds onto hope for a brighter future.
Overall, the lyrics to Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace convey a sense of struggle and uncertainty, but also a sense of hope and a belief that things can get better.

What a strange band. Drummer looks like your uncle, chain smoking on drums, lead singer standing with his hands in his pockets, great bassist and an escaped lunatic who'se somehow made it on stage pulling mad faces and pointing out other loonies in the crowd. What a show and what a tune, best thing I've seen all year, new to me. Its never too late to discover quality.

Theyāve been doing this since 1973. Got their 1st big break in 1977 opening for KISS, then went to Japan in April 1978 and the rest is history!!!!!!!!! Still touring today in 2021

@Barton Percival I'd seen and heard about them many times but never actually listened. Then about six weeks ago I was listening to a bit of Ted Nugent and they were in a suggested list. At the last second I thought I'd have a look. What a surprise, a nice one for a change. Just shows, just when you think you've seen it all, up pops an eye-opener.

@Paul Burns Rick Nielsen (the Guitar player that wears the baseball cap) is a great writer of songs. They have such a large catalog of music, that itās such a crime to only listen to their radio hits. Their early stuff off their 1st two albums is truly incredible. The thing that attracted me to the band wasnāt only their appearance or their songs, but their big powerful sound on albums and of course at live concerts. You have the goofy looking guitar player, and the loud big beat of the drummer, then you have the bass player that plays a 12 string bass that sounds like a jet airplane taking off, and finally the lead singer that seems to have a thousand different voices. Great rock & roll band that deserved to make it into the RRHOF!!!!!!!!

In a word, Budokan is "magical." The production and engineering are quite possibly the best live sound that was recorded in the late 70s
Mr. Logic Pants
That is what I thought too until I read that some of it specifically Tom Petersons bass parts were re-recorded in a studio later.
