Cher gained popularity in 1965 as one-half of the folk rock husband-wife duo Sonny & Cher after their song "I Got You Babe" peaked at number one on the US and UK charts. Together they sold 40 million records worldwide. Her solo career was established during the same time, with the top-ten singles "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" and "You Better Sit Down Kids". She became a television personality in the 1970s with her CBS shows; first The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, watched by over 30 million viewers weekly during its three-year run, and then the namesake Cher. She emerged as a fashion trendsetter by wearing elaborate outfits on her television shows.
While working on television, Cher released the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves", "Half-Breed", and "Dark Lady", becoming the female artist with the most number-one singles in United States history at the time. After her divorce from Sonny Bono in 1975, she released the disco album Take Me Home (1979) and earned $300,000 a week for her 1979–1982 concert residency in Las Vegas.
In 1982, Cher made her Broadway debut in the play Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean and starred in its film adaptation. She subsequently garnered critical acclaim for her performances in films such as Silkwood (1983), Mask (1985), The Witches of Eastwick (1987), and Moonstruck (1987), the last of which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. She then revived her music career by recording the rock-inflected albums Cher (1987), Heart of Stone (1989), and Love Hurts (1991), all of which yielded successful singles such as "I Found Someone", "If I Could Turn Back Time", and "Love and Understanding". Cher contributed to the soundtrack for her next film, Mermaids (1990), which spawned the UK number-one single "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)". She made her directorial debut with a segment in the abortion-themed anthology If These Walls Could Talk (1996).
Cher reached a new commercial peak in 1998 with the dance-pop album Believe, whose title track topped the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1999 and became the biggest-selling single of all time by a female artist in the UK. It features pioneering use of Auto-Tune to distort her vocals, known as the "Cher effect". Her 2002–2005 Living Proof: The Farewell Tour became one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time, earning $250 million. In 2008, she signed a $60 million deal to headline the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for three years. During the 2010s, she landed starring roles in the films Burlesque (2010) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and released studio albums Closer to the Truth (2013) and Dancing Queen (2018), both of which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200.
Having sold 100 million records, Cher is one of the world's best-selling music artists. Her achievements include a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, the Billboard Icon Award, and awards from the Kennedy Center Honors and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She is the only artist to date to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in six consecutive decades, from the 1960s to the 2010s. Aside from music and acting, she is noted for her political views, social media presence, philanthropic endeavors, and social activism, including LGBT rights and HIV/AIDS prevention.

Body To Body
Cher Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Really he was carved from stone
Gargoyle live in the flesh
Ed Gein with it, peel it back, layer for layer
Atone me for my sins I’ll be the first to suggest I get stoned
Eyes of a crow I never forget a face
So don’t pass me on your night stroll
There’s a toll for the bridges I burn
And the price you pay is, well
As priceless as your face will be
Wicked like bare branches in winter
As twisted as Midwest alleys
Keep the gloves on me just in case I need to catch a body
Tom.me counting and slashing like tallies
How come every time I grab the desert eagle
I create an oasis of blood that’s deeper than a grave full
I'm darker than most so when they refer to me they call me medieval
Any suckers that try to cross me never get a fucking sequel
Feeble, minded individuals fall easy to my control
Just like an animal, I hunt 'em and cage 'em just for show
These mantles are full of dismantled limbs and preserved skulls
Every Halloween I treat these tricks like a hunting haul
So when I rest in my dungeon for winter I have decorated walls
Befall willingly to the treacherous gargoyle
And maybe I’ll give you a proper burial by soil
As I sit on my human flesh stitched throne
Always alone, plotting smoking down a bone
I'm prone to inherit the murderous devilish look in my eyes when the weed is blown
So I load up my lungs to the maximum capacity until I’m tombstoned
My cologne is the smell of bodies decomposing
Probably cause I just let em air out in the open
Toking I’m Medusa looking in the mirror
I’m the hash slinging slasher smoking hash
Sending victims to the after life
I don’t care about your wife or kid
I just care where the body gon' get hid
Ya dig
I guess that’s up to me, up in the trees
Peek through through your window when you try to sleep
Second glance I was just what your
Fright led you to see
Tom.me fuck with your head more than lobotomy
Autopsy hardly a possibility with lack of a body
More pumped than a shotty
More stoned than a cemetery
I’m more scary than Bloody Mary
Cause at least the bitch let you count to three
The lyrics to Cher's song "Body to Body" are intense and dark, full of vivid imagery and violent themes. The song seems to be from the perspective of a cold-blooded killer, who relishes in the power he feels from taking lives. The first verse sets the tone, as the singer compares himself to the Grim Reaper, but notes that he himself is not a collection of bones, but rather a living gargoyle made of flesh. The mention of Ed Gein, a notorious serial killer and grave robber, adds to the song's macabre vibe.
Throughout the song, the killer speaks of his love for taking lives, referring to himself as a hunter who stalks and cages his victims. He also seems to revel in the gruesomeness of his crimes, talking about his collection of dismantled limbs and preserved skulls. The chorus, which repeats the phrase "body to body," seems to be a reference to the killer's method of operating.
The lyrics also give some insight into the killer's psyche. He speaks of being "darker than most," and notes that he takes pleasure in the murderous "devilish look" that comes over him when he smokes weed. He also seems to enjoy the power he holds over others, referring to his victims as "feeble, minded individuals" who fall easily under his control.
Overall, "Body to Body" is a disturbing and unsettling song that offers a glimpse into the twisted mind of a killer.

@mrbierenbroodspot
I have never been so excited about good music. This definitively is the best of all. Should repeat from itself. The counter anyway does not work. Thanks for all this.
@Msmartix1
Ohhh, I love this song sooooooooo much!
@sutanpuu
I used to like a lot this when I was younger. I still like very much, but this song does not genarate so powerful feelings as when I was younger. But I think it is just natural that every feeling is more powerful when you are younger. Still, it doesn't mean that you can't feel strongly when you are old older, but more like there is less drama with the feelings when you are older than when you are younger
@maxdolphin984
