Cher contributed to the soundtrack for her next film, Mermaids (1990), which spawned the UK number-one single "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)". She made her directorial debut with a segment in the abortion-themed anthology If These Walls Could Talk (1996).
Cher reached a new commercial peak in 1998 with the dance-pop album Believe, whose title track topped the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1999 and became the biggest-selling single of all time by a female artist in the UK. It features pioneering use of Auto-Tune to distort her vocals, known as the "Cher effect". Her 2002–2005 Living Proof: The Farewell Tour became one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time, earning $250 million. In 2008, she signed a $60 million deal to headline the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for three years. During the 2010s, she landed starring roles in the films Burlesque (2010) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and released studio albums Closer to the Truth (2013) and Dancing Queen (2018), both of which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200.

Cher Lyrics

Just can't dream nothing else
All I see is red, now
I'm drowning, no one can help
Sirens through my head, everything you said
Floating lost at sea with sharks around our bed
Wish I heard the call when it was the end
We were living in black and white
Under the grayest sky
Since we've been over, it won't stop
All I see is red, now
Just can't dream nothing else
All I see is red, now
I'm drowning no one can help
It's all around me
Red from my heart, red like my blood
Red from my lips when you told me you were done
Red, now
All I see is red now
Used to be that you were every color of my life
A rainbow shining through the rain, cutting like a knife
You were my obsession every night and every day
So when we fell apart the blue was more than I could take
We were living in black and white
Under the grayest sky
Since we've been over, it won't stop
All I see is red, red
All I see is red, red
It's all around me
Red from my heart, red like my blood
Red from my lips when you told me you were done
Red, now
All I see is red, now
Red from my heart, red like my blood
Red from my lips when you told me you were done
Red from my heart, red like my blood
Red from my lips when you told me you were done
Red, now
Just can't dream nothing else
All I see is red, now
I'm drowning, no one can help
It's all around me
"Red" by Cher is a song about heartbreak, pain, and loss. The lyrics depict a person who is drowning in a sea of red, unable to see anything else but the red color which symbolizes the intense emotions that they are feeling. The song starts with the repetition of the phrase, "All I see is red, now," implying that the singer is consumed by their pain, and they can't seem to focus on anything else. The sirens in their head and the memories of their past love haunt them as they try to move on. The verse "We were living in black and white, under the grayest sky" tells us that the singer felt that their life had no color, and it reflects how they are feeling now that their love has ended.
The chorus repeats multiple times throughout the song and drives home the message of the overwhelming pain and loneliness that the singer is feeling. The color red echoes throughout the song, signifying the passion and deep emotions associated with love, as well as the heartbreak that can accompany it.
