Miscellaneous
Lloyd has performed on T4 on the Beach. She has also performed at the Leeds Aire FM Party in the Park and Key 103 Live Manchester, both on the day of release of her debut single.
She had auditioned for The X Factor twice before (when the minimum age was lower) singing ballads but it was only after reinventing herself in 2010 that she got through to see the judges. Lloyd has previously performed at holiday camps and said she gets a mixed reaction to her music. She auditioned singing the Keri Hilson version of Turn My Swag On. At bootcamp she sang a rap version of Viva La Vida adding lyrics she claimed to have written herself, but this was disputed and reports claimed she took them from a song by rapper Swizz Beatz.
At the judges' houses she performed Cooler Than Me but suffered a throat infection and was unable to complete her song. She was given a second chance, but broke down sobbing and could not complete the song. Despite this, she was picked as one of the final three girls by mentor Cole. Lloyd sang a rendition of Just Be Good to Me in the first of the live shows. In the second live show she sang "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)". In the fourth live show she sang "Stay" and did not rap for the first time. Cowell called the performance the best of the series. In the seventh week, Lloyd was in the bottom two for the first time after her rendition of "Imagine". Cowell, Cole and Walsh all saved her, resulting in Paije Richardson being eliminated.

We just wanna get down
Tell the DJ turn it up real loud
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
I got a flow that'll make you drop
I got a flow that'll make your mother and your father call the cops
We're gonna make this thing go blow, we're gonna system overload.
We're gonna be the generation that makes everything explode!
And I when I say explode I don't mean that we using bombs
We doing stuff that we don't ever have to tell our moms
Love the stuff we got,
We got it all up in the room
Paper chasing, yeah we got it everything we want
Somehow, some way
We're gonna have it our way
We don't give a what, what you say
No we don't
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Tell the DJ turn it up real loud
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Show everybody who runs this town
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
Do ya, do ya, do ya know what I mean
I'm a princess, I don't wanna be the queen
Please don't say a thing Mr. Bean
Every time you talk gr', it makes me wanna scream
I don't know what you heard 'bout me
Don't remember holding out my pinky
I'm gonna finish off these MCs
Like they were my cup of tea
I got a flow that'll make you drop
I got a flow that'll make you pop
I got a flow that'll make your mother and your father call the cops
Somehow, some way
We're gonna have it our way
We don't give a what, what you say
No we don't
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Tell the DJ turn it up real loud
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Show everybody who runs this town
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
(Cher let me take it from here!)
Bullseye again
I got 'em in a target, put 'em in a pocket, put 'em on a market
That's the way we did
You can see the way I walk and I talk
Every time I show her what I got I'm sprung, I don't want to grow up
Forever young
Why I don't ever wanna leave you
Better believe me, trust me she is the one
Gonna make all the people got up in the hard papers wanna hear it that
Are we gonna dump like this, leaning bend the body on the run
And then they gotta turn and twist
I guess it's time for pictures and my close up
I can do this to 'til infinity, I pray I never grow up
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Show everybody who runs this town
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Tell the DJ turn it up real loud
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
We ain't ever gonna grow up
We just wanna get down
Show everybody who runs this town
No we'll never grow up
And if we had our way
We would do this everyday
The lyrics of Cher Lloyd's song "Grow Up" express the desire to not conform to societal expectations of maturity and adulthood, and instead to continue pursuing a carefree, youthful lifestyle. The chorus declares that the group will never grow up and just wants to dance and party to loud music every day. With lines like "I'm a princess, I don't wanna be the queen" and "Love the stuff we got, we got it all up in the room," the song emphasizes materialism and a desire for instant gratification. However, the verses contain some hints of rebellion and activism, with lines like "We're gonna be the generation that makes everything explode" and "We don't ever have to tell our moms" hinting at a desire to break free from authority and shake up the status quo.
Overall, "Grow Up" presents a conflicted and complex view of youth and adulthood, with the desire for freedom and fun tempered by a sense of responsibility and a yearning for change. The lyrics suggest that the group wants to find a way to defy societal expectations without losing sight of their goals and dreams.
