High
Cheryl Dilcher Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Drove a hundred miles just to see you dance
And to hear the sweet music you play
You got diamonds in your hair
And bells on your ankle
And a green dragon on the stage
I don't know what you do
But whatever it is
You got me hooked on your line all the way
And your friend Charlie, he's so lucky
He gets to see you everyday

It would make me high - to have you
It would make me high - to have you

I don't know about what to do about
The way that you move
And I'm beginning to fantasize
I wanna take you home want to talk to you
I want to rock you to sleep tonight
It's time for you to go
But I'm beggin' you please
Comma, Comma give me some more
Gimme a chance and I'll make you happy

That's what I came here for
It would make me high - to have you

I have the Blue Sailor album on clear vinyl. Still love and play all 3 of my Dilcher albums. What a unique voice, and always a great band and music to back her up.

Cheryl Dilcher- WAY, WAY ahead of her time. I just love this song and Cheryl. Remarkable song and talent.

Brian Fergus

I like her music, but can find nothing in it that is “way ahead of her time”. What makes you say that?

Janice B

Cheryl Dilcher passed away several years ago unfortunately. She was way ahead of her time with her music, but just never got the recognition she deserved. I saw her in concert once in St.Louis and she was awesome. I just recently bought a new turntable so that I can play her albums again.

Brian Fergus

I like her music but I can hear nothing in it that’s “ahead of her time”. What makes you say that?
