I'll Follow the Sun
Chet Atkins Lyrics

To see I've gone
But tomorrow may rain, so
I'll follow the sun
One day, you'll know
I was the one
But tomorrow may rain, so
I'll follow the sun
And so, my love, I must go
And though I lose a friend
In the end you will know
Oh-oh-oh
One day, you'll find
That I have gone
But tomorrow may rain, so
I'll follow the sun
And now the time has come
And so, my love, I must go
And though I lose a friend
In the end you will know
Oh-oh-oh
One day, you'll find
That I have gone
But tomorrow may rain, so
I'll follow the sun
The lyrics to "I'll Follow the Sun" by Chet Atkins tells the story of a person who knows that someday they might no longer be in the picture of their loved one's life. The singer acknowledges this possible outcome but chooses to live in the present moment and enjoy what they have right now. The lyrics convey the message of the fragility of love and the unpredictability of life, and how it's important to enjoy and appreciate the time spent together before it's too late. It's a bittersweet but ultimately optimistic song.
The lyrics are simple yet profound, and they are beautifully complemented by Atkins' guitar work. The melody is gentle and soothing, with a dreamy quality that perfectly captures the mood of the lyrics. The song's structure is also notable, with each verse repeating the same pattern but with slightly different lyrics, giving the impression of a cycle that the singer is caught in, but ultimately accepts.

Daffy thanks for posting this. I Love Chet, and yes he was a master guitarist, i would probably say he's my second favorite guitar player ever. My first being Jerry reed, somehow i don't think Chet would mind. :) Thanks again for posting.
Fritz

@daffydoug I don't blame you. Chet was played more than any other artist in our house when I was growing up. My father had almost everything Chet ever put out. He's one of my favs!! ...oh, Chet and Les, of course.

Thanks for replying, daffydoug. You must be sitting on a gold mine of Chet stuff iv'e never heard of. Guess you've heard of John Knowles that played on the "First Nashville Guiter Quartet" album with him. I was taking a few lessons at Peabody from him in Nashville when they cut that. He's the closest to Chet I've ever heard. He has a website, in case you or anyone else wants to look at it. Great stuff on it. He plays some samples of his instructional licks. Hope flu goes away.
