Eight
Chew Lips Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And though my house is made of wood
I can throw stones if I please
Can set fire my gathered leaves
Where’d you go, I wouldn't say
Always been a mile away
A high-speed chase on your wedding day
Cannon shoot on grassy moor
A battlefield of love and war
Empty bottle on your bed
Broken-hearted, innocent
Where you've been I wouldn't go
Just another story told
A high-speed chase on your wedding day
Give and take are all the same
Cannon shoot on grassy moor
A battlefield of love and war
It’s your high-speed chase on your wedding day
Give and take are all the same
Cannon shoot on grassy moor
A battlefield of love and war
The lyrics in Chew Lips’s song, Eight, explore themes of confusion, distance, and the highs and lows of love. The opening line, “Such confusion can’t be good,” sets the tone for the rest of the song as the singer grapples with their emotions. The line, “And though my house is made of wood, I can throw stones if I please” suggests that despite their own flaws and imperfections, they still have the power to cause harm if they choose to.
The lyrics then shift to a discussion of distance, as the singer wonders where their partner has gone, stating “Where’d you go, I wouldn't say, always been a mile away.” There is a sense of longing and frustration, as the singer is unable to bridge the emotional gap between the two of them.
The imagery in the song also adds depth to the lyrics. The lines “Cannon shoot on grassy moor, a battlefield of love and war,” creates a sense of conflict and tension within the relationship. The reference to a wedding day adds a layer of irony, as it is typically a joyful occasion, but in this context, it is overshadowed by the sense of discord between the two lovers.
Overall, Eight is a complex exploration of the complexities of love and human emotion. The lyrics touch on themes of power, distance, and conflict, and the imagery used throughout adds depth and complexity to the song.

The thing is,even thought this is a polished performance,it lacks integrity. I do feel the band has lost it's individuality and I am know concerned that their creativity will be sucked dry by commercialism .Hope not though ?...Best Wishes..Thank you for sharing. PS it's only my opinion so please don't get personal ;~)
