Play Together
Chew Lips Lyrics

Any way, road is gonna turn
We’ll pay, we’ll pay the toll charge
We’ll pay, then we’ll have to learn
And we’re ready but we didn’t sign
Cuz you know it when it isn’t right
Better look behind both eyes
Don't you know, don’t you know we’re trying
Don’t you know, can’t be here for long
Set it up, set it up to see you
Set it up, broken in a song
And we’re ready but we didn’t sign
Cuz you know it when it isn’t right
Better look behind both eyes
Oh we’re never getting out alive
And we’re ready but we didn’t sign
Cuz you know it when it isn’t right
Better look behind both eyes
Oh we’re never getting out alive
We’re ready but we didn’t sign
Cuz you know it when it isn’t right
Better look behind both eyes
Oh we’re never getting out
The lyrics of Chew Lips's song Play Together reflect a sense of urgency and desperation in the face of an unknown future. The repetition of the phrase "any way" suggests a willingness to go along with whatever comes their way, whether it be a twisting road or a toll charge. However, there is the acknowledgement that there is something not quite right about the situation, and the singer urges the listener to "look behind both eyes" to find the truth. The line "we're never getting out alive" has a foreboding tone, suggesting that the struggle will continue until the end.
The second verse adds a layer of complexity to the song as the singer pleads with the listener to understand their struggle. They are trying to make things work, but the time is limited, and they need to set things up quickly before it's too late. The phrase "broken in a song" suggests that there is beauty in the breakdown, and the struggle is worth it to create something meaningful.
Overall, the song Play Together is about the struggle to survive against all odds. The fear of the unknown and the need to make things work even in the face of adversity. Despite this, the song maintains an underlying sense of hope and beauty, even in the midst of struggle.

Excellent Vocals.Interesting musical composition. My era (and influence) was the late 70's and 80's.I don't proclaim to be an expert but I do "feel" there hasn't been a great deal of innovation in electronic music (actually any music) since then.Fortunately ( for me ) this band is a tonic, I wish them all the best for the future and Thank You for sharing .

I saw them at Wulfrun Hall Wolverhampton 22/6/10 and enjoyed her strong voice, sure there's a lot of new wave/early 80s revivalism but this was good.

I love this song, but it reminds me of my old part time at Marshall's...LOL...this song and Lose it by Austra and Tourist by Julian Casablancas got me through the night; other than that, the part time sucked big time, especially during holidays season!
