Featuring in a number of Psychedelic DJ Top Ten's, Hannah Mai Young's musical vision was to blend the harder more percussive elements of Acid Techno with the uplifting melodic sounds of Goa Trance. November 1997 saw the UK release of her new project, CHI-A.D. with the Virtual Spirit album on Ganesha/Nova Tekk Gmbh, which received strong world-wide reaction by trancers, DJ's and the Dance Music press. In particular, the track Astral Warrior became a firm favorite in many trance DJ sets. CHI-A.D. has also played a number of parties in the UK and across Europe throughout the summer and latter part of '98. Originally consisting of Hannah Mai Young and Andy C. they were one of the first psytrance groups to play a completely LIVE P.A.

Apocalypse
Chi-A.D. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mass exodus has begun, but we still wanna play
Riots and looting at the close of the sun
Countdown to extinction; three, two
Who knows if there'll be another tomorrow?
Let's hit the stage like Jimmy Gestapo
Anxiety is building, brought on by the State
Still we won't evacuate
The apocalypse is here and we're not gonna stop
The show must go on, no matter what
Get your riot gear on; stomp, stomp, stomp
Powerfully possessed like an iron fist
The storm has begun and we're caught in its midst
If we quit now, they'll say we were soft
So let's mosh it up, like Murphy's Law
The show must go on, no matter what
The apocalypse is here and we're not gonna stop
The show must go on, no matter what
Get your riot gear on; stomp, stomp, stomp
The damage around us is starting to mount
I'm beginning to fear we won't make it out
Reality sets in, death is soon near
Nothing can save us, not even your prayers
The show must go on, no matter what
The apocalypse is here and we're not gonna stop
The show must go on, no matter what
Get your riot gear on; stomp, stomp, stomp
We died for our cause but we didn't expect
Our quest for greatness to end like this
Now that we're gone we can't reminisce
Our last show, The Apocalypse
The song "Apocalypse" by Chi-A.D. presents a scenario in which there is a mandatory evacuation in Area A due to the possibility of an impending apocalypse. Despite the mass exodus, the band members still want to put on a show and refuse to evacuate. The lyrics suggest that the anxiety brought on by the state is causing the people to riot and loot. The band members feel powerful and possessed like an iron fist, and they believe that if they quit now, they will be considered soft. They continue to insist on the show going on no matter what, even as the damage around them starts to mount and it becomes clear that death is imminent.
The lyrics of the song are about the human desire to persevere even in the most challenging of circumstances. The band members are presented as fighters, unwilling to give up even in the face of death. The song's message can be understood as an appeal to the human instinct to persevere, to continue to fight even when the odds are against us.
