Together with keyboardist/composer Yuki Kajiura (梶浦由記), the other half of See-Saw, Ishikawa has performed theme songs to numerous anime shows, including:
• “Anna ni Issho datta no ni” (あんなに一緒だったのに), the first ending song of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
• “Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru” (君は僕に似ている), the fourth (and final) ending song of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
• The opening and endings of .hack//SIGN [“Obsession” and “Yasashii Yoake” (優しい夜明け)] and .hack//Liminality.
As a solo artist, she performed “Utsukushikereba sore de ii” (美しければそれでいい), the opening theme of Simoun (シムーン) and "Uninstall" (アンインストール), the opening theme of Bokurano (ぼくらの).

The lyrics of "Prototype" by Chiaki Ishikawa describe a prototype boy who is struggling to find his place in the world. The lines "純真さがシンプルな力に変わる時" ("When innocence turns into simple power") and "世界に影をつくりだす" ("Create a shadow in the world") suggest that this boy's pure intentions are being distorted by the harsh realities of the world. He wants to touch the light of existence but is unable to do so because his raised hand won't come down. He's struggling to find his place, and is crouching down like he's falling.
The lyrics continue to describe how the singer is becoming more and more like a prototype or a trial product. The lines "この体を失いそうな/ギリギリの場所が/哀しいくらい似合ってる" ("This place where I could lose my body/I fit in here so well/It's sad") suggest that he is almost disposable and his life is precarious.
