In the Country
Chicago Lyrics

And my ways
Keep on changing
From day to day
As I grow
It becomes so clear
Why I'm here
For you and me
The beauty of life
Someday you'll see
Then you'll join in
And sing along
And you'll understand why I sing this song
Let me tell you now
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
Well I'm talkin' bout life
And livin'
And the beautiful earth
And givin'
Talkin 'bout the natural things we've had since birth
That's lovin'
Well I'm talkin' 'bout a walk in the country
Mother nature's sweet charm
The smell of her perfume
As we walk arm in arm
Let me tell you now
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
Well it's a beautiful day
And I'm on my way
Ooh, thank you lord, for the country
Well my thoughts
Are like ripples in a stream
I see myself so free
My eyes and spirit say hello
My soul goes dancing by, oh hello
The clean fresh air
Goes jumping through my head
The sun is smilin' down
If you have ever lived out here
Then you know why I say
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
So come on let's move
Out to the country
Yeah, let's go live out there
Come on people
Come on people
Yeah, let's be free
We got to be free
In the country
You and me
Come on people
Come on people
Better have a good time
We'll have a good time
We got to be free

I have been playing guitar for about 34 years now. I can do the shred thing and even acoustic thing but when they ask about my early hero I say Terry Kath from Chicago. Everyone knows the " ballad era" but then they are shocked when they learn about these albums. Its up to all of us to keep this music ( as well as his name) alive! God Bless Terry.

...i understand. Your people are younger more than likely. I was there. Heard the albums in order as they came out, each one more incredible with Terry’s stuff getting more and cool and experimental. For a while. Chicago V was their peak. That and six. We were so damn lucky to have met them. Met them all, starting in August 1971 in Buffalo, NY. Terry was the first to speak to us at the Hoilday Inn where we found them. Those boys were as honest and genuine and respectful as anyone I’ve met since. They truly regarded their fans, we simple 17 year olds with as much awe as we them, believe or not. Chicagoland’s finest bunch of talented boys just riding the wave, playing their hearts out, trying their best to change the world...

It speaks volumes that NOBODY has disliked this. Real musicians realize how gifted Chicago's early music is and how fun and tuff it is to play well. They use key changes, dynamic changes, unisons, harmonies, meter changes, styling from symphonic to hard rock to love then protest songs. The only way to categorize them is super talented musicians/songwriters

Chicago's first 3 albums were all masterpieces. In the Country is a classic. Terry Kath was the one of the greatest if not the greatest guitarists of all time. Hendrix said it himself. Poem 58 and Liberation - listen to those songs from the first album and you would agree. Chicago - "What Else Can I Say" - The best !!!!

Don't forget about South California Purples, what a classic!

This is truth, was there in the 69-70 all this was true, all the talking and music! They were the badest group to hit, besides "BST AND T.O.P." WHEN MUSIC WAS THAT, MUSIC! 👊🎵🎶⭐🙏👊🖤♠️🕶️🏁
