Chiddy Bang formed when Anamege and Beresin met at Drexel University in 2008. After months of support from underground music blogs, the pair released their debut mixtape The Swelly Express via blog Pretty Much Amazing. The release was met with widespread acclaim and led to the group signing a recording contract with EMI in January 2010.
Their first commercial single on the label taken from their The Swelly Express mixtape, Opposite of Adults, samples the Brooklyn group MGMT's 'Kids' and was released on February 21, 2010 in the UK. It reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and later peaked at 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. A second single from the mixtape titled Truth was released in the UK and peaked at number 50. Following this success, Chiddy Bang released a second mixtape exclusively within the UK featuring remixes and adaptations of popular British artists including tinie tempah, ellie goulding and kate nash.
In October 2010 the pair released Chiddy Bang: The Preview - an EP consisting of previous singles and new material - serving as a prelude to their debut album scheduled for release in Spring 2011.
The Mind Your Manners Songfacts states that Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege broke the world record for the longest freestyle on April 28, 2011. His freestyle lasted 9 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds, supported by looped beats played by Xaphoon, beating the previous longest time by three minutes.

You know me, I'm a upscale character
Haters, we ain't mad at ya
To the penthouse we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Leave 'em in the danger zone
You know me, I'm a upscale character
There is not a challenger
To the front page we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Now you're in the danger zone
They in the danger zone
I'm in a major zone
They stereotype me, they thought my name Jerome
Because my skin is dark, I witness art
Watch me as I come up from the bottom and ascend the charts, and then I spark
I play this right
Fork in the road, I made a right
Try to take off while them haters just delay the flight
I know you watchin' me
Them other boys sloppy
My flow is dead on, now where's the autopsy?
Whores watch me, say hello to my stainless,
Got my hand in the cookie jar, visions of being famous, I'm saying
You know me, I'm a upscale character
Haters, we ain't mad at ya
To the penthouse we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Leave 'em in the danger zone
You know me, I'm a upscale character
There is not a challenger
To the front page we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Now you're in the danger zone
Yeah, my composition is remarkable
I am a molecule, they are just a particle
And this a article, so you can read all about it
And are they messing with us? I doubt it
The road less traveled, I'm sorry I'll reroute it
And this goes out to everyone that shot me down and doubted
Now I'm cumulusly clouded
Serious, higher than a Nimbus
I swear, I'm on the scene like forensics
Just check the stylo
We know heat flow
Them A&Rs tryin' to find me like Nemo, I mean it
You know me, I'm a upscale character
Haters, we ain't mad at ya
To the penthouse we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Leave 'em in the danger zone
You know me, I'm a upscale character
There is not a challenger
To the front page we go
It's time to grind now, so we gotta shine now
Never take a time out
Now you're in the danger zone
Xaphoon, you crazy!
In "Danger Zone" by Chiddy Bang, the lyrics begin with the announcement heard at the New York Port Authority, setting the scene for the urban and gritty theme of the song. The lyrics express the struggle of the singer, who is dealing with stereotypes and judgement from others due to his skin color. He is determined to rise above it all, and make it to the top, focusing on grinding and shining, never taking a break or timeout. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the idea of leaving others in the danger zone, which seems to be a metaphor for leaving behind naysayers and those who doubt the singer's ability to succeed.
As the song continues, the lyrics become increasingly confident and aggressive, as the singer boasts about his composition and how he is above others who are like mere particles compared to his molecule. He calls out those who have doubted him and expresses his rise to success, using imagery such as clouds and forensics to illustrate his ascent. The gritty theme of the song is further emphasized in the bridge where he mentions A&Rs trying to find him like Nemo, suggesting that the music industry can be a cutthroat and dangerous place where only the strong survive.
Overall, "Danger Zone" is a song that expresses the journey to success, highlighting the struggle and determination it takes to achieve one's goals in the face of adversity and judgement.
